) I have to assume it's because their mind is going "don't say elephant for the love of god don't say elephant, you can't say elephant no matter what" and that subconscious thought just bubbles out into language and gets said strictly due to the fact that they don't want to say it
there are no "positive tourettes" because none of them are thinking "oh god it would be terrible if I told this guy that he has nice hair and good fashion sense"
