Quote:I mean, I am not disputing Israel's actions, but you realize that Iran has already almost fully eliminated Jewish Iranians from their land, has significantly reduced the Baha'i population and treats them as second class citizens with equivalent apartheid actions that we call out Israel for. I never see anybody talk about Iran's treatment of Baha'i. It's all very strange. Nobody is dismissing Israel's actions, but people seem to be excusing and diminishing Iran's actions which is a bit mind-boggling.
Quote: Whataboutism serves nobody. It doesn't matter if the Iranian regime is monstrous in the context of this war because the aggressors didn't go in to free the oppressed people of Iran. In fact, those same minorities you're concerned about are going to have it much worse now.
The US and Israel are bombing them, their infrastructure, and any moderate figures in the Iranian government. Homes, schools, hospitals, power plants...
Dunno my man, seems to serve Iran’s propaganda very good. Helps them to obfuscate the reasons why most of the Western World and the Arab countries are not willing to help them out and pretend the war came from nowhere.
Also, let’s put that idea in another point of view: Hamas didn’t attack Israel to liberate Palestine, as they knew they were provoking a losing war. They made the situation of their people actively worse just to destroy Israel normalization in the Middle East. The whataboutism of “but Israel’s apartheid” doesn’t matter because Hamas just made things worse.
