Well my parents got the report back.
First I had lunch with the business guy, talking over the consultancy plans and whatnot. Not a peep from my parents this week so I figured something was up and dropped by on the way back home. Turns out they got the report but they wanted me to read it before doing anything. The guy had approved more help as he said he would but he didn't put any of the complaints or mistakes they made in writing. Instead he added a paragraph that there is no alternative and from here on out it was up to the healthcare providers (i.e. I can't look after them).
My mother has signed a piece of paper that says they can no longer look after themselves. She doesn't really understand what she signed, just that more help is coming. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. My father is thankful that I put all this into motion and went out for a walk for the first time in ages.
I knew it was the right call when I watched him mess around with the papers and my mother took about 20 minutes to write her name down and sign.
Overall I reduced a 3 month waiting list and 8 week process to just 2 weeks. When the guy came in he said: "I'm here to respond to a notification but this is not an assessment or request yet. Simply an exploration to see if there is grounds for such an assessment that could lead to a request."
What's next?
After dropping the form in the mailbox I haven't got a clue and maybe that's the best position to be in.
