However, as time has passed and the Israeli government has fallen further and further into fascism and their actions became more and more genocidal, this has become a harder ask. While the reasons for us asking users not to make the comparison have not changed, the situation around Israel and Palestine has intensified and made the comparison more and more relevant as time has passed.

As a result, we have gotten together and decided to allow the comparison. We would like to ask that people not overuse it and try to limit it's use to moments where it is called for and not just throw it out randomly just because a thread happens to be about a Jewish person or someone who is from Israel. If this turns into some kind of spam post across the forum we will reevaluate this, so please try not to over do it.

All that said, we have been getting a myriad of complaints from Jewish users, even those who feel the Nazi comparison is apt and shouldn't be banned, that some of the rhetoric users have been pushing has been inching uncomfortably close to bigotry, if not actually crossing the line. As such, while we will allow the comparison, people need to be aware that they, for example, cannot just replace the word "jewish" in a sentence with the word "zionist" and everything is ok and you've done enough to avoid sounding bigoted. If you're writing a post and you replace "zionist" with "jewish" and it sounds bigoted, maybe the point needs to be reframed. The genocide that Israel is conducting is horrific, but that doesn't mean bigotry should be on the table.

Beyond that, and this is a more general point, please do be more careful with the social media accounts you post. When the Iran war thread started, there were quite a few literal Nazi and white supremacist accounts that were posted. While we were nice and just removed said tweets, we will start actioning people who do post Nazi accounts. So please, just give the accounts a quick look over, maybe google the name to see if it's legit, it isn't a huge ask on our part.

Anyway, we are going undo the bans that are under contention and adjust internal and external guidelines going forward.

Caved like a lil bitch as expected
