If we're talking about a reworking of the Constitution the first amendment is absolutely part of that. I agree it shouldn't be abolished completely but it also shouldn't apply to corporations via Citizens United or have blanket protections for hate speech or lying from politicians and those issues are inherent in absolute protections as interpreted by SCOTUS.

We have examples of other countries doing just fine without blanket free speech protections, and ignoring those countries is absolutely US centric.

I’m pretty sure you tend to ignore the controversies on those countries.
