This is partly based on experience, white people who apologize for being white tend to harbor a real darkness inside. Like the self described male feminist thing. They’re overcompensating for something they did or think. 

I mean, these days they pretty explicitly tell you that you need to think and stress constantly about race, assume stereotypes based on race, view people as little more than products of their race and keep to your own race while hunting for secret encoded racist messages they claim the racists are always hiding everywhere. A lot of them will even straight up tell you how horribly racist they are. You can't be Born Again unless you've sinned and most of them are willing to share stories about how even more racist they used to be before they saw the Light and did the work to improve to merely just terribly racist.
