I'm kind of upset I looked at this and related threads because of the FDR knew or FDR is innocent debate. Everyone knew war with Japan was coming, it was pretty much inevitable. The logic of Japanese expansion demanded it. They didn't know the specifics or anything though. They were also keeping Japan in the dark about American intelligence which is why the Japanese thought they could show up at the White House and inform them of the attack after it happened like there wouldn't have been thousands of messages that came in about it.
For the record, Hasan does not seem to actually be taking this position that America "deserved" Pearl Harbor, but he's just so used to phrasing everything as if he's uncovering some big time secret conspiracy it's easy to view him saying this that way. I think he's really just saying that Japan thought it had a legitimate reason, it wasn't just being a jerk. From the perspective of Japan, the attack wasn't just logical it was pretty much a necessity.
