How do these people ever want to be taken seriously when they can't understand language. Yes, something that differs from the norm is abnormal. When someone is born with only one hand that's an abnormality. We don't go around declaring that there's a new species of human that's only one handed

They read moral criticism into it, that by saying it's abnormal you're saying it's bad and needs to be eliminated.
