Finally had time to play Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2 and it's really good.
I like how it mixes the Resident Evil 7/8 type gameplay with Resident Evil 2/4 Leon gameplay.
Also this looks insane for a Switch 2 game. A few rough patches here and there but nothing that bothers during gameplay or otherwise.
I expected far worse.
I had doubts if going Switch 2 only was viable but it is. There is no need for these $1000 boxes anymore if you mostly play single player games.
Also gameplay wise I find ray tracing often distracting. Everything lights up like a Christmas tree, which looks pretty but doesn't make the game better to play. In other instances areas are too dark to even see shit because it looks more "realistic". The more I think about it, the more I prefer the classic rendering for gameplay. I'm also not sure about the realism claim. In real life windows don't reflect everything like a super shiny mirror. You often just see faint reflections of things. Sometimes nothing because they're covered in filth and shit or no sunlight can reflect because of an adjacent building or cloudy sky.
