I'm surprised King hasn't gotten more criticism for The Stand from the pitchfork mob. There's a bit at the start when Larry goes home and his mum says he "sounds like a beautiful Black body." That's not even the first use of the N word. 

He makes the reader do blackface in their head by having everyone tell Larry he has a black voice on the radio
