The King gave his annual speech today and he talked about how the government is going to invest heavily into AI to create the economy of the future. Invest in our talent, create new investment funds etc. etc. We're also going to deregulate. The guy that wanted to make me managing director of the big agency landed a contract of 4 million to update a weather app. That was probably his plan B.

played number wang with the corpos they got a 900,- discount to round up one quote to 69k. I joked that I liked such round numbers.
closed a deal around ~150k. that ensures this business runs another year. After the lay offs cut our costs this is about 50% - 75% of the revenue needed. The other 25% - 50% is already covered from other contracts. With 4 people we'd need about ~200k - 250k. I will take about 3 weeks of vacation in October/November so I don't have to deal with the fall out of the people leaving and unfinished work and 2 weeks for Christmas when my brother visits from Canada. If I plan those vacations there is about ~8 - 10 weeks left this year regardless of how the job search ends.

they finally found someone who knows enough about AI and technology, their head of tech. So I'm finally getting a job interview with the CCO and the head of tech next week.
I was surprised because they had already removed the vacancy from the website. So I figured she'd just ghost or cancel the whole thing but no, they're very interested. Now that the government is opening the flood gates Mr. Rogers and everyone else will probably start calling again soon. My current competitor already put up a job for a bid manager as soon as the speech of the king ended.
He also announced they're going to make it easier to run a business on your own after making it more difficult for years. I think my plan of taking a new job at a bigger agency for a significant pay raise and bigger public profile is the right call for the short term. As all these funds and regulatory changes will take a few years to develop. Overall the focus is entirely on the economy, energy, AI, digital and defense to the dismay of the left and old people.
