This isn't even an extravagant claim focusing only on Marx or Lenin who believed labor to be the prime want of life. You know the phrase "doing the work?" How you aren't supposed to enjoy whatever cartoon or six hour YouTube video because you're supposed to be being challenged by it? This is labor that's supposed to be improving you by bringing you closer to the perfection of the ideology. The entire framework of this form of leftism is that "reality" is a lie, that it's "false consciousness" and you need to forever fight the "easy" life in order to uncover all the systemic forces that actually control reality. Mere "existing" is a crime because your duty is to achieve human perfection by aligning perfectly with the correct ideology that should control reality*. Marxism was not "everyone is in one of two classes" that is the standard binary version that so many [whatever] studies are built off of, there's a "third" class that included criminals, lazy workers, etc. The Soviets, and China today, harshly punish them:

Indeed, because it acted only out of socially ignorant self-interest, the lumpenproletariat was easily bribed by reactionary forces and could be used to combat the true proletariat in its efforts to bring about the end of bourgeois society. Without a clear class-consciousness, the lumpenproletariat could not play a positive role in society. Instead, it exploited society for its own ends, and was in turn exploited as a tool of destruction and reaction.
They reject historical leftism, they accept certain individualist tenets but in a somewhat twisted way because they don't allow for other people to be individuals.
I actually know where I've seen this before and I can't believe I forget it so often.
It's Objectivism. Except even Rand allowed for capitalism in her cult because she comprehended that not all people can be perfect, only the elites. It's an Objectivism where everyone can just "identify" into the elites and somehow therefore make demands of everyone else. But at the same time it has this unthinking glorification of anyone who "resists" or "rejects" the system, so that what were once considered "parasites" are the new elite.
It's a "leftism" that basically says the prime want of life is to personally exploit as many other people as possible. Narcissism + sociopathy = leftismaxing.
*This is actually an older idea dating back to Aristotle, you may recognize his notion of the "good life" though more than a bit different in his version. Marx, as is typical, shrank it down to the "core truth" that he personally believed.
