Sort of in tune with the bitterness around Taylor Swift’s success, there are people upset over this recent romcom being a surprise box office success story. Mostly down to it starring two conventionally attractive straight white people. People bitterly bring up other recent romcoms about gay leads or non white leads and how they were better by some mysterious metric and should’ve been more successful. Like they unironically see all media as propaganda and audiences democratically neglecting their slop as a slap in the face.
