I imagine the older experienced guys would also be more prone to telling him no. Someone young or someone who never had this opportunity will probably be more willing to accept that guys authority.

I read somewhere this was the case. Some experienced engineers had told him that this wouldn't be possible but more inspirational people were willing to take the challenge
