Like did you know you can elevate other art without talking about how this old art of countrysides is actually racist and problematic?Because the ideology is destructive nihilism as justification for control. I mean this seriously, whether the root is named critical theory, Marxism, etc. It's never about proposing alternatives, you're instead supposed to assume a perfect alternative then critique how everything else false short. Marxism doesn't explain how communism is supposed to work or even really look like, you're just supposed to imagine the utopia and any critique of it is out of bounds because we can't really know how a perfect utopia would work, leaving you trapped in just endless critique of the forever "late stage" of capitalism. Critical theory posits that there is nothing but endless dialogue where nobody knows what anybody else means. Deconstruction never proposed a reconstruction after. So on and so on.
This is why, as I pointed out in the other forums thread, you can always do this to anything. And why they always do it to the things they promoted the day before. Harry Potter was the progressive message, now it's racist, fascist, transphobic, etc. to its very core with zero redeeming qualities. I love [thing], wtf fuck [thing], I always knew they were suspect.
Lenin, Mao and Marcuse actually argue that because "the right side of history" fights for an unknowable utopia anything they do is correct because "morality" is simply a symptom of the struggle against existing reality. In other words, you're critiquing them from your limited perspective of the now which is inherently illegitimate.
What’s amazing about the communist thought leaders is they’re never subtle about all this. Marx openly resented happy people. He resented his mommy for not financially supporting him. The trick is most people are inherently good. They go along with this because they’re for helping and uplifting others. So much of the ideology exploits that.
More than Kevin Chang’s quote, it’s the Daniel Lugo “I don't just want everything you have. I want you not to have it.” mentality.
