absolutely zero little kids have looked at sonic or lightning mcqueen and ran around real fast pretending to be them

kids know they are not hedgehogs or cars, so those characters were just literally off the table for anyone to identify with in any way

very few kids have ever pretended to be mario either, because he is italian, and they are acutely aware of their own race and that they don't qualify to inhabit his shoes, they just kind of sadly watch him jump around wishing they weren't dutch
