You're this mad because the woman in a video game doesn't give you a boner? 

I'm not sure why developers have decided that black women characters should look like Amanda Waller and I'm not really a gamer, besides some niche PC arpgs. But I'm not sure why anyone gives a shit about this lol. Outside of the Waller thing, most female characters I see in TV ads just look like regular women? Not hot, not ugly, sometimes cute I guess. Honestly they remind me of Ripley or Sarah Conner: feminine yet tough chicks. Nobody thought that was a problem in the 80s or 90s.

why are we culturally allergic to attractive characters now?

it doesn't matter if ONE character is ugly, it matters when suddenly 90% of the mainstream ones are and you remember when it wasn't the case

this wasn't a problem in the 80s or 90s because a wide variety of people were in all sorts of media in those decades, now they're literally all hideous

We can certainly have a debate about how much this does or doesn't matter (some stuff is also definitely overblown, Aloy from Horizon for example isn't a total bombshell but also not as ugly as people say) but I find it wild to have a developer basically get shut down by his colleagues because his comments gave too much ammo to the other side or something.

I also wouldn't be surprised if white developers are somehow interested in making POC characters look more "ethnic" to pat themselves on the back

Could also just be bad game artists lol.
