It's kind of crazy how no one really knows how to handle this. 

After the initial: "Biden will show up jacked on drugs" MAGA is now running conspiracies where they claim Biden was cheating during the debate by wearing a secret ear piece that fed him lines or that he already got the questions from the moderators before the debate. However, Biden didn't win the debate so these prepared 'Biden cheated' comments look really dumb.

Meanwhile The White House is still maintaining the story that Biden is actually better than ever. You just have to see him between 10AM and 4PM after which he gets tired. 
Rumor has it that Jill Biden refuses to help to convince Joe to step aside because she doesn't want to give up their power and influence.

There also doesn't seem to be an easy way to crown Newsom. Aside from the DNC rules, if Biden is unfit to be a candidate he's also unfit to be President and if he resigns that would make Kamala Harris President and she isn't going to step aside. But if they somehow prevent her from ascending the throne, the speaker of the House Mike Johnson would become President.

Meanwhile Trump is very happy with the ratings of the "Monster" show and says Biden is coming out his trance

I think the best route for the Democrats would be to bite the bullet, have Biden resign and let Kamala be President and give her a 'powerful' VP like Cheney was to Bush. If they do that, Trump is suddenly the old man vs. the younger Democratic candidates. It's insane to watch Obama and others openly come out to defend Biden and his ability to lead but I guess that's all they can do if Joe refuses to step down.
