Too much to quote but the article is really a perfect description of the 2016-2020 era of hyper identity politics and scamming. Also an example of what the dynamic is often really about: taking over administrative positions via identity based blackmail. Hire me or you're racist/sexist/etc.
A lot of the problems in academia aren't because universities are inherently bad. It's because extremists with questionable qualifications force themselves into positions of power and then start doing insane shit. To go back to the Miami Vice chick, I guarantee you her "study" of a guy showing a meh movie to his girlfriend will be greenlit by some feckless white guy or gal at a leftist publication. For fear of being accused of racism if he/she declines to run it.
Amazing when an article from the past confirms every suspicion I have about someone who'd go on such a Twitter crusade. Must be a nightmare to work with
