Australia has turned the tide (again)

While advocates say DEI policies are good for business, there is no data on their effectiveness in Australia, apart from the widely publicised male-female wage gaps reported by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

The lack of evidence makes them vulnerable. If, for instance, a business has to choose between pursuing progressive employment policies, or hiring the most productive workers, the latter approach is more attractive when profits are under pressure.

Similarly, companies that make DEI policies a high priority face a risk, in a challenging economic environment, of annoying shareholders.
