it's the same reason that making video games/media with furries or weird alien creatures instantly sidesteps all inclusivity issues: no worries about black/hispanic/asian representation, no worries about islamic representation, no one tends to care if there are no gay/trans-coded whatevers because only weirdo degenerates want to think about that in that context ("is the cute little fox thing wearing a scarf that engages in zero relationships gay?!?!")
