Mayoral advisor who led the charge against ShotSpotter is jailed on outstanding warrant

A $103,488 per year “senior adviser on community safety,” Alyxandra Goodwin, 33, appeared in warrant court on Wednesday morning and court records show Judge Deidre Dyer ordered her detained on the warrant, which is for a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license. A 2021 Naperville Sun story reported that Goodwin was arrested that year for driving on a suspended license.

Ald. David Moore (17th) posted a picture of Goodwin with a screenshot of her LinkedIn bio Wednesday afternoon. Moore led the City Council’s efforts to keep ShotSpotter technology active in the city, but Johnson canceled the program on September 22 anyway, ignoring pleas from aldermen, the police superintendent, and ordinary Chicagoans.

Moore wrote.
“As Alderman, my primary responsibility is to serve the residents of the 17Th Ward. I took on the ShotSpotter issue because of the concerns of my residents and because of what I know is making A difference in our community,” he continued.

“However, it p***es me off when people and organizations who are not from our community, lead the efforts to tell us what is right for our community. I do my best to fight for policies or against policies, that impact my residents,”

“I don’t fight at the behest of organizations or interest groups. That is why I am so p***ed off and disturbed by this information. This administrations effort to end ShotSpotter and put the lives of my residents in jeopardy by hiring a person whose sole purpose and mission is to end ShotSpotter and defund keeping our communities safe,” he said.

“But don’t get caught up even in this person, but a system of certain white people, groups or organizations using our community as test dummies. As the title says, black people are a PROJECT to them, guinea pigs. It’s important that you know the policies and people I’m trying to protect my residents from,” the post concluded.

Goodwin has been heavily involved in “social justice” initiatives for years. She has referred to police as “the muscle of racial capitalism.” In late 2015, she published an article titled, “A Few Ways to Support Police Abolition In The New Year (Or Right Now).”

How did she get arrested for the warrant? She/they/he/it (hard to tell because Alyxandra looks exactly like you'd expect someone who wants to defund the police would look like) got popped for "driving with a suspended license" warrant because she was pulled over for driving on expired tags.

CHICAGO — Mayor Brandon Johnson’s $103,488-a-year public safety advisor has been driving on expired plates for two years because her “check engine” light keeps coming on and she can’t pass an emissions test.

That’s what Alyxandra Goodwin told the Chicago police sergeant who pulled her over for the outdated tags last month. The traffic stop ended with Goodwin being arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant from DuPage County.

The officers allowed her to make phone calls to arrange for someone to take care of her children while Goodwin got everything straightened out.

During one phone call, apparently to her boss, Deputy Mayor of Community Safety Garien Gatewood, Goodwin is heard saying, “They’re not bothering me. They’re going to arrest me.”

Goodwin handed her phone to the sergeant, saying her boss wanted to have a word.

Unmoved by Goodwin’s City Hall connections, the sergeant explained that Goodwin was being taken to the Grand Crossing (3rd) District station.

The call ended with Goodwin’s boss apparently asking who the district commander was.

“Who is this?” the sergeant asked.

“OK. The 3rd District commander is Commander Branch,” said the sergeant before hanging up.

Makes over 100 grand a year and can't even get their fucking check engine light problem fixed. A perfect example why nobody wants these kind of people in charge. How can they get thigs done for us when they can't get things done for themselves?
