I think the idea that the President needs to occupy some kind of moral highground is nonsense anyway.
Most Presidents throughout history didn't and the voters don't seem to care either.
H.W. Bush was the least controversial President since Reagan. He managed to form the biggest international military coalition in history to free Kuwait and the voters replaced him with Bill Clinton to spice things up. In hindsight Clinton made a mess of things, cut welfare programs, messily bombed Serbia and by interfering in the Russian elections planted the seeds for what is now the Putin regime. And that doesn't take into account the 'personal' scandals surrounding him and Hillary. After his presidency he used all the connections he made for mostly his own benefit with a shady foundation.
George Bush probably had the most 'kind' soul of all the modern Presidents. All his staff liked him, he was the guy you wanted to have a beer with or that would fix the fence of his neighbor. He isn't a narcissist like Obama or an asshole like Trump. He had no real desire for power, grand schemes or crazy ambitions apart from freeing Africa from aids or building a moon base. His personal life was boring and scandal free. He even questioned the Clinton foreign intervention policies before he was elected. Yet for some reason he ended up invading Iraq illegally.
Biden to me seems like a guy that was just in over his head. Especially navigating complex things like the wars in Gaza and Ukraine and the economy.
