We decided it was time to update to a brand new CCD. This thread will be re-launched in January 2026. Here is a reminder on the rules and topics of discussion.

• If this thread is going to be useful to anyone, it has to be constructive. We absolutely want to hear about issues with moderation and/or the community, but that has to be conducive to an actual discussion. Coming in here to simply throw fuel on the fire and attack people is not going to fly. Full stop. We want this to work and we will enforce this to make it work.
• This thread is NOT to re-litigate specific bans, or to call out specific members or moderators. We are talking about the community as a whole here, we are not going to get bogged down with "why was X banned" derails. Making this about individuals is not going to help. Any user(s) brigading for or against an individual will receive at least a threadban from this thread. To litigate a ban (preferably your own) please submit a ticket here
• Keep in mind we're just trying to keep up with hundreds of reports each day. We react, we don't prescribe.
• This should not be a matter of "Us vs. Them". Staff knows very well the part they have to play in making this a better community. Almost every staff member came from an established segment of this larger community, and we all did so because we want to make the site better than it is. But we can't do that if brigades are bent on treating staff as the enemy or as bad people. We do our best to communicate to members with respect, but members also have a role to play in that.

Do you have any ideas on how the forum can be improved? Feel free to suggest fun ideas too. The world is terrible and getting worse, we'd like this corner of the internet to be a fun & safe space.

Not pearl clutching but I feel like it's just a negative for a person's 'self' to cheer on the suffering of someone. You can be impartial or even 'relieved' at someone who you think has done a lot of harm dying, but I think sometimes the forum goes too far into the 'i hope this person suffers and dies from cancer' direction.

Remember when they had the big forum-wide fight over whether or not people should post the accusations about Joe Biden being a sexual harasser. Or allowing BernieBros to keep attacking him as a centrist. Or all the attacks and bans handed out for anyone questioning his mental acuity or ability to continue in office or as the next candidate. I think the problem they haven't quite realized is, that as far as I can tell, "female gaze" as a concept pretty much excludes the idea of sexualization. You can't be sexualized and female gazy, it's an oxymoron.

On the one hand, it's a common problem with these companies and it sucks.

Also pretty weird to see other writers refusing to defend her. I wasn't aware of the controversy around Waypoint, but apparently other journos refused to speak up because folks working for that site are persona non grata. The times I saw it mentioned, it was always done with a critical attitude, calling out both Ana and EIC over there for even writing/publishing at the artices.



That said, I'm not educated on journalistic practices, so perhaps there was some underlying fault in reporting on the situation. Or daring to write sex positive articles about video games or whatever.
