It’s not a recent phenomenon but lately we’ve gotten reminders that if somebody wants to score, they’ll willing give up classified information. More accurate and reliable than water boarding.

Not to mention climate change prevents us from having the Dreamcast 2 and good graphics in Pokemon. Hmph

https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2024/apr/09/mona-ordered-to-allow-people-who-do-not-identify-as-ladies-into-ladies-lounge-exhibit

Quote:Hobart’s Museum of Old and New Art has been ordered to allow “persons who do not identify as ladies” entry to its Ladies Lounge art installation after losing a legal battle.

The judgment, handed down by the Tasmanian civil and administrative tribunal on Tuesday, found Mona was in contravention of the state’s Anti-Discrimination Act and ordered Mona to allow men to access the installation within 28 days.

“Within 28 days from the date of this order Moorilla Estate Pty Ltd is to cease refusing entry to the exhibit known as the Ladies Lounge at the Museum of Old and New Art by persons who do not identify as ladies,” the judgment said.

The New South Wales man Jason Lau took legal action against Mona, claiming that being denied entry into the Ladies Lounge when he visited the museum last April due to his gender was a contravention of Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Act.

So according to the latest lore from an RPG rulebook, Tomb Raider will stop raiding tombs.  lol

Quote:"Raiding, as depicted in the original Tomb Raider games and stories, involves going to ancient tombs and historical sites of different civilisations and acquiring artefacts. It operates on the assumption of 'finders keepers' that grants raiders with the means and the drive to claim ownership of artefacts, regardless of whether they have any historical or cultural claim to the treasure."

"Later games released in the franchise have started the work of addressing this by having Lara Croft acknowledge her past mistakes and try to understand and show respect for the cultures and communities she comes into contact with. She has also worked to reform raider culture and raise the awareness of her peers."

"Lara no longer decorates her mantle with mythic artefacts - as a raider she prioritises seeking out the truth. Much of this game is inspired by her humanity, struggle with heroism, and her tenacity. We believe that all three aspects are an important component in creating a game that celebrates history and culture while acknowledging the respect and work required to live in a world wounded by colonialism."

"In this game, we seek to continue in that work alongside Crystal Dynamics by creating a sandbox for you to tell stories that address colonialist themes in play and create your own stories of respect and support for the people and cultures your Seekers encounter."

What a fun adventure. We can sit down and discuss our own microaggressive racist thoughts and work through them.

Combat? Fun? Adventure? Why would you want that?

Uh, wait, so what does this "raiding" entail exactly? Why does she need to go into tombs at all? Or travel? In fact, why is she encountering other cultures at all? Shouldn't she stay in her lane? Isn't cultural appropriation also colonialism?

I hope they remove the death traps from the tombs as well. I don't like this implication that indigenous cultures could be dangerous

It's exactly this type of diet-lite wokeist commercial activism that I hate.

A true reinventing of the Tomb Raider franchise would pit the noble indigenous tomb defender against the hordes of invading tomb raiders who are intent on spreading their colonialist, capitalist and white supremacist ideology.

Of course, to be authentic and to avoid cultural appropriation, only indigenous people who have not progressed past stone age tools would be hired to work on the game. Their lack of computer programming skills should not preclude them from being the lead project manager.

Sweet Baby Rays Inc would of course be brought in as consultants to ensure that the black Canadian woman's perspective on indigenous Central American and South East Asian tribespeople is represented and there would definitely be a trans component where the trans tribesperson is impervious to all criticism enemy weapons.

Woke Raider

I have to admit though, I'm curious how this would even work. Are there just no treasures to collect?
Just walking around taking in the sights and culture but no touching anything.

Maybe you have to shoot up the British Museum to return the treasures the whites stole from Africa and other places or something.
I bet they will retcon the story, their (LARA IS TRANS!!) father killed himself because of his white colonialist guilt.

mysteries to solve in wilderness areas

local tribe says its children have gone missing, some bodies have been discovered with their bones somehow transformed into crystal

lara is on the case, after receiving permission to explore the sacred caves of their ancestors for clues

I wouldn't say the character is ugly but it's pretty blatant at this point how female characters keep getting adjusted while male characters have a 1:1 likeness to the real life model. In this case they pretty clearly gave the character a broken nose and a cleft chin

Quote:A court has heard that the founder and CEO of a women-only social media app will not address a transgender woman as “Ms”, saying “I don’t think it’s kind to expect a woman to see a man as a woman”.

Roxanne Tickle is suing Giggle for Girls and its CEO, Sall Grover, for alleged unlawful discrimination after Tickle’s membership of the female only networking app was revoked in September 2021. Tickle is seeking damages.
TERF BITCH

Quote:Costello asked Grover if she would “call her Ms Tickle in real life?”

“No,” Grover answered. When asked if that was kind, Grover said: “I don’t think that it’s kind to expect a woman to see a man as a woman.”

WOOOO

Quote:The court was told that, as part of crowdfunding efforts towards covering Giggle’s legal costs, an Etsy shop is selling Team Giggle merchandise, including a $37.70 “Sweaty Balls Team Giggle” scented candle which features a “demeaning” image of Tickle.

When questioned whether she understood that the product was deeply offensive to the applicant, Grover said that “offence is very subjective”.

Whew

Quote:As part of her argument, Costello described a transgender woman who had a female birth certificate, hormone therapy, breasts, gender affirmation surgery, wore makeup and women’s clothes, had a woman’s hairstyle and used women’s facilities.

“I suggest to you that that is a woman in our society,” said Costello.

“I don’t agree,” replied Grover.

Definitions of sex, gender and what it means to be a woman are central to the case.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-10/world-netball-bans-transgender-players-international-competition/103691310

Quote:"Following detailed review of the science and consultation with experts and members, it has determined that international level women's netball is a gender-affected activity and that a policy is required (to) ensure fairness and safety at this level of our sport," World Netball said in a statement.

"World Netball believes that the research on which it has relied is robust, it comprises many research studies, all of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals and come from multiple distinct research groups around the world."

The statement also said that the policy was based upon current evidence that "strongly suggests there is retained physical advantage following the suppression of testosterone levels in those that have experienced the biological advantages of testosterone at any time in life."

The only exception for transgender athletes was for those who could "establish to WN's satisfaction that they have not experienced the biological effects of testosterone at any time".
