I've had to block so many elements of it on my desktop, including the search, to make it even remotely usable. The amount of right-wing talking points it puts in the search box as popular searches was pissing me off, especially when I subscribe to only positive left-wing news for mental health reasons.

Honestly I think there has been always some broad conflation as you call it between trans and crossdressing communities from the crossdressing community itself, like the MTF subreddit (maybe the biggest subreddit for trans women) was recently found out to have a crossdresser mod for years that had to be removed because they were found to be allowing all kinds of crossdressers to post hypersexual content in the community carte blanche. Most older spaces for trans women (forums, irl groups etc) are more designed for crossdressers/sissies etc, and a lot of trans women only spaces both online and IRL have to weed out crossdressers that come to them in bad faith purely because they are horny



It's very confusing to navigate even for me as a trans woman in these spaces so I imagine it's even more confusing from the outside from cis people's perspective, it's very likely why there's so many laws and stereotypes about trans women potentially being predators and perverts, because there's a broad class of cis men (of which there are way way more cis men with a crossdressing fetish than there is self identified trans women) with a fetish who essentially are identical looking to how a trans woman can superficially look

I wonder how much this one will hate women. Because my god the devs set the bar for being embarrassing with the last one.

How does the first one hate women? Genuine question, haven't played it. Have seen the main character.

The positive traits of Bayonetta were beloved by fans of the game when it released initially. There was never a re-evaluation on Bayonetta, the criticisms of the work have remained valid and plenty of people still can't enjoy the game. But it's always had its own fandom and critics.

Let's be real here it's night and day. Bayonetta is the center of attention and wants to be it. She owns her sexuality and uses it as a weapon. Eve is everything wrong with female objectifation in gaming, her character is completely asexual but the developers dress her up like a sex doll.

It's what misogynists look for in female sexuality, they want women to be docile and submissive, their sexuality existing for the enjoyment of men. Not something women are allowed to acknowledge, own and even enjoy themselves.

Some of y'all cannot act normal about this game. If it released to a piss poor reception and high sales I'd understand, but it didn't. It reviewed very well and even sold well, especially for a first time major game from a mobile dependent studio. Not unlike Lies of P.

IMO Stellar Blade was a surprisingly good time with a fun combination of traditional character action and a soulslike. Amazing soundtrack, great visuals, satisfying parry combat, and extremely polished. The storytelling was the only huge blemish.

well yes, the idea is that this level of objectification being normalized is a bad thing, both because it is plain bad taste and because it makes the gaming space yet more cis het male oriented. If there was a massive amount of big budget character action games without this sort of thing and this was only on a niche, like the porn magazine section in a store, then I wouldn't have as much of an issue with it.

I don't know about 'hates women', though I'm not super up on the news. But the character design and presentation is lowest common denominator T&A swill and the character barely has a personality. As would be expected from a company whose previous game is about collecting hot anime girls. All of that by itself means there's nothing interesting to expect from them because they think in and market to unimaginative sexist defaults. I'd love to see less of that in games (proportionately--if suddenly the amount of interesting high budget non sexist stuff exploded, then whatever) so I'd love to see less success for this dev if they're going to take this approach.

Don't forget about the marketing being infested with gooner dogwhistles and the (alleged) abuse of female staff within the studio. There's just no reason to give anything related to Stellar Blade the benefit of the doubt. The game is tainted at every single level.

Are you referring to that tweet from a couple years back?

I used to refer to that as well but when I realized it was an anonymous tweet from an account that quickly disappeared and there was never any women who came forward after, it doesn't feel too responsible to keep referring to that.
