To be fair, I do side-eye a lot of y'all for the posts you don't like. Very sus when Taco Bell Tower and HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth are the only ones around here willing to stand up and consistently support someone opposing genocide, white supremacy and pedophilia.

I've tried to bring this up before, that even the concept of trading or barter is a form of capitalism, because it implies that one person has skills, gifts or fruits of labor in excess of others, which they distribute in exchange for extra personal benefits, again creating a class of people who have more than others and thus more power (they could trade the goods they traded for to get even more personal benefit, etc.)

the response is usually "lol you think socialism means no more money? you have a lot of learning to do sweetie, read the theory"

The abolition of money thing is like a whole part of the theory, literally pages spent on it. Was one of the first things the Soviets tried to do after mass murder and theft. But they think "socialism" is instead the abolition of labor itself, through magic. Because I said so.

I think there's this assumption that the ability to own and trade your own labor is something that's always been the case and so will continue even after the abolition of capitalism. When that was the whole thing that changed. You didn't used to be able to do that. Property was granted, your job was your lineage, you had to get permission to change, most people were tied to the land or outright slaves. That's the very paradigm of capitalism, the systemic change. They have no interest or clue in finding out why it's called capitalism. The whole point where personal ownership and freedom to dispose of capital is the entire thing versus the other systems where capital is controlled by some other thing.

They're so ignorant and greedy they don't even realize that their shit is the same as the socialists before, they're mad that other people can do what they want and they want to stop that and make it so everyone only does what they want. They look at Elon or Bezos or Gabe (or really anyone who isn't them) and see "waste" and want it to be in their hands instead because nothing they do is ever waste. But because they're narcissistic and simple-minded they think well, someone just takes everything from everybody and then this someone will obviously do whatever I want because they can only conceive of other people as if they're themselves. So obviously "us" (aka cops aka chuds) getting a monopoly over everything means I'll be able to do whatever I want. I can't do whatever I want now so the better system as determined by my desiring it simply because it's not the current one MUST be me getting to do whatever I want. That's all the "theory" involved. Just look at Nepenthe trying to apply it in a simple "sketch" of how the world would be after billions are deliberately slaughtered in order to stop wealth from growing, it's literally her describing neighborhoods that exist all over now.

It's not "post-" anything, it's just going back to the past and not letting you have control over capital. You'll still have to labor, just entirely for others. Like, what do you think the "social" part of socialism means? It's not you, you're not society you fucking narcissist. You're an irrelevant speck, an unnecessary piece.

It's easily one of the most frustrating things in internet discourse over the centuries.

One of the more obvious signs that they don't understand the context of 19th century revolutionary theory is how they rave on about landlords.

They think of landlords as the middle class person who owns an investment property and rents it out for income. They claim in earnest that all landlords should face the guillotine.

However, the actual context of landlords at the time were literally the fucking lords of the land who inherited wealth and land and rented out farmland to peasant farmers at extortionate rates and kept them in debt and subservience.
These two things are not the same. People who think this way are retards and should face the wall first.

It was tried. The Soviets and CCP both tried it before abandoning it. Pol Pot basically did Nepenthe's version. (Though, to be fair, she claims to not be a socialist. Which is probably worse as then she's just arguing for mass murder without even any kind of purpose.)

The claim that "real socialism was never tried" is to argue that the greatest socialist ideologues in history who obtained power killed and destroyed more than anyone else in history for no reason at all despite having said before that this is what they intended to do. That it was all a big lie on their part even as they spent how much time developing the rhetoric and argument, the theory, that it was what needed to be done. That they spent all this time arguing there needed to be a great unleashing of violence to "turn the world upside down" and then did exactly this but didn't actually mean to do it. That it was all big one oopsie of unexplainable intent.

The way they talk about "capitalists" is the same thing. They're imagining some East Indian Company type monopolist or even John D. Rockefeller, not literally everyone with a pension or similar invested in the stock market or even treasury bills.

The greatest singular "capitalist" force in our society is the public sector worker pension fund. The teachers and bureaucrats they spend all their time saying should never be criticized for anything and given even more money from taxpayers:
Quote:United States Public Pensions
Total Assets: ~$6.0 trillion (state and local), or $10.0 trillion (including federal).
Participants: Serves ≈ 15.3 million active members and 12.4 million retirees.

Largest Individual Funds:
California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS): Manages over $550 billion in assets.
California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS): Manages over $335 billion.
A bunch of BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street's infamous assets are actually these.

Elon and Bezos's "capitalist" power are nothing compared to these, what are they going to do? Cash out of Tesla/SpaceX/etc. and Amazon? And buy what with it?

That's what you get for rushing into it instead of waiting for capitalism to finish as guaranteed by History. Not my fault Lenin and the rest refused to follow the proven science as revealed to Marx. They all wanted to drink from the still instantly rather than wait for the necessary fermentation. Trumps

I've said this before, but introducing likes on Era would end up with so many bruised egos from the """prominent""" members when they realise high post count + community protection != popularity. You just know Echoes would be running to the burka thread with a hidden post about how no one is liking their posts lol You'd obviously have the usual discords coordinating likes too, no doubt.

Quote:I guess the point I was trying to make is, that many people don't feel like they owe respect to someone who voluntarily chose to be a member of an organisation that constantly commits war crimes and murders innocent people, and died while operating a vehicle of mass destruction.

Quote:Came here to say something similar. Those on board are serving in the military during the Trump regime. I think from many people they'll get little sympathy.

Daphne wrote:I'm going to be frank with you: I don't care about US military personnel who fly B-52 Bombers which have spent the last 70 years committing war crimes around the world. It's disgusting you don't seem to care about those and all the innocent people they have killed. They were just yet again doing it in the Middle East the other day.

I don't want this to happen as I don't like death and because I'd prefer them to be facing condign punishment in front of a proper legal court of human rights. But I'm also not going to be concerned that it has happened. The loss of the plane is an unalloyed good though. One fewer death machine.

Quote:Embarrassing posts honestly. The way this country deliberately makes getting healthcare, education and living wages almost impossible to get make the military one of the only means that underprivileged, poverty level families are granted access to them. Not everyone joins the reasons you think. For some it's the only way to afford an education, for others the only way to provide life saving medical care for their family. This is the reality for many minorities like myself who had few if any options.

Grow up and step outside of your privileged, classist takes you feel so necessary to air on a forum for internet brownie points on the smoldering graves of eight Americans. Fuck the imperialism America engages in, but it has nothing to do with the individual lives that join. You realize that's the only way some trans folks (used to be) able afford to be the person they truly are, right? If you have a bone to pick, take it up with the power structures that corrupt this country that MAKE IT so that joining the military is their ONLY option to survive.

Every day I'm more shocked at some of the ignorance on this site, but it's just another day on Era after all.

Jesus fucking christ.

The way they use "war crime" it makes me wonder what the part of war is that isn't a war crime. Like it's just some redundant vestigial phrase. (See also: "illegal war" in that one post quoted, what would they consider a "legal war"? What Luigi did?)

Also the posts suggesting these guys are guilty of something (and so deserving of punishment) because other crew of the same type of planes, or members of the same multi-million person group, have done "war crimes" in the past century are incredible. lol

Millstone wrote:I'm completely soured on Game Pass. We've had developers talked about how they see it as devaluing games and how the positives don't outweigh the negatives like had been claimed for the longest time.

A last-ditch Hail Mary to save the Xbox One became the death blow to the entire brand itself. Crazy to think about it in hindsight.

Raphael Colantonio was right when he said it was unsustainable and reality would hit once Microsoft's 'infinite money' ran out.

I feel like shit having subbed at all. I bought the games I ended up playing more than a few hours of, but I have money to the service and sent a terrible message that cost people their jobs. Short sucks emotionally.

Unless you have developer friends that actually got a raw deal from GP, you really don’t feel sorry at all. People shouldn’t feel bad when taking advantage of an unsustainable service that big corpo creates.

Bitch ass crocodile tears.
