A locksmith who is particularly shady and doesn't want to bank my check, has told me yesterday he will 'cut me into pieces' if I don't give him 'real' money. This morning he left a message saying he is coming and it won't be fun, or some shit.
Police won't help unless he is literally at the door.
I have to fill a complaint in person for them to call him. It is 40c and I certainly won't leave my mother alone in the apartment.

I'm not having fun. I moved the heaviest furniture I could behind the main door, to at least slow him down for the time it will take for the police to come.

Wonder if the guy is full of hot air (he screams like a lunatic on the phone, though), if I will end up murdered or if will simply croak with the blood pressure spikes.

Please carry on, I at least needed to share that.

Tried several card payments, rejected (I confirmed with my bank the fault was his terminal).

He leave with a check saying that I contact my bank and we exchange payment method the day after.

Can't for the life of me contact the bank on phone the next day, leave it at that, the guy has a check.

He call the day after and is already extremely bossy about what I need to do.

I tell him to cool down and just take the check.

And removing the publicly published language around LGBTQ people isn't censorship? Controlling language is one of the most fundamental, powerful and insidious forms there are. They are trying to erase the concept.

What I'm describing is a stand against suppression. The idea being that pressure is put on the Chinese government via community uproar from a shutdown, and typically in such situations governments renege. China probably wouldn't, but it's an important stand to take.

The point was that all Chinese Steam users would lose access to Steam entirely, which would create massive uproar, hugely raising awareness around the LGBGQ+ topic and putting heavy pressure on the government to allow it. It would raise awareness massively but yes with the horrible side effect of no Steam and no LGBTQ+ themed games.

It's an extreme solution and one which Valve would never, ever implement.

You're right on those accounts - they are far more concerned about other challenges regarding games and the LGBTQ+ stuff is a footnote for them. But WE should be taking it fatally seriously even if they aren't, because fundamentally it is a life and death issue.

I'm essentially describing cross-continent cultural warfare. Using our tools to push tolerance and inclusivity elsewhere. With the ultimate goal of benefiting LGBTQ+ people in China. A few years ago you'd never hear me make arguments like this but as things backslide and fascism is taking over I believe much harder stances and actions are required.

Also I'd argue that in some fashion banning the tag is more insidious: most Steam users will never see LGBTQ+ games or their content anyway, but they might see the tag. Now that language, that visibility, has been erased. At least banning the games would be mask-off.
