So I noticed this new talking point about the classic "MW2 Dedicated Server Boycott" meme.

Important to note regarding this image is it's often presented in the incorrect way. There are 17 pages of people who joined that boycott and all you're seinge is the first page, what it actually shows is 19/833 people playing COD.

19 out of 833 members there playing COD.

Because many of us remember looking into this when it was relevant, as other members will be able to back-up. It was, by far, people mostly NOT playing COD. This is an image often presented in bad faith or ignorance that does not prove the point people think it does. A surface level reading of it is meaningless.

What's the actual implication here? That a significant number of people quit playing the series after MW1 and never returned? That the dedicated server boycott was...successful? That "many of us remember" the opposite of what the image illustrates, and that is more meaningful than...an actual screenshot? All of those are really bad arguments, but it's not at all clear which one explains why this is suddenly a no-no meme or what's wrong with it.

Are you sure this extended grace was due to him being a white man or because he had the right "vibe"? Morris Katz insisted voters were tired of politicians who felt like they were "grown in a vat", but Platner also at times felt like he came out of vat... just a different type of vat. Zohran's politics, personality and hobbies should have him in a hoodie and sneakers. But he wears a suit 24-7 for a reason, even in a photo op where he plays some soccer he rocks a tie under a jersey.

Not saying you can't have minority outsider pols but they have to be a different cloth ie Zohran. America worships working class white guys because they built this country (not black people), put in the infrastructure to explore to expand West (not Asians), and are the ones working the farms (not Latinos). They Are The Real Americans (cue Ford commercial…) lol. They are the only ones to get +3 in all stats when they put on flannel, timbs and can give a good speech.

 


Honestly he may have a point ( he just posted in the dumbest way possible) but I feel the “white blue worker” buff has its limits and it’s probably more to do with charisma.

But the notion that “minorities need to be this way”   is telling in how brainrotted are identity politics.

Because as the Mayor of the MOST IMPORTANT CITY IN THE WORLD he spends all his time dealing with people in suits or the female equivalent?

I've long thought a lot of people on Era (and PoliGAF before them) believe that executive branch officials jobs (and politicians more broadly) are actually the photo ops and speeches.

Amusingly, you know what politicians you see the most often not in suits? Presidents (sans Trump who literally wears nothing else except when he golfs) because their time is so important and completely managed. Would krazen think that George W. Bush's "politics" or whiteness should not have him in a suit? Yet because he was a workout fanatic he took a lot of meetings (with Americans or foreign friends) in his workout gear. When he met Sam Alito for the first time before appointing him to the Supreme Court it was this and he was sweaty from running or something. Because as soon as he was done, he'd be whisked off to something else. Obama and Clinton were similarly often in golf clothes. It's not disrespectful because everyone knows their time is less important than the President's.

As typical, they neurotically overthink this to make it fit their stupid theories about "systems" or whatever else. Like all recent NYC mayors, Mamdani wears a suit because he wants to seem respectful to other people in suits he's spending all day meeting with. And they are doing it again because it's clear that it wasn't forgotten. (Though it has been hovering around 20-30 thousand, which is plentiful enough)

Aside from this, i'm glad for once in this country that a major corporation had gotten taken down a small peg or two legally. Nintendo's patients were absurd and should not had been approved in the first place.
