I want to jump off of this quote to push back on some of what's listed in the OP.

You're dismissing the counterpoint of how this also applies to men characters, with no argument. Since this isn't about lewd characterisation and overtly male-gazy fetishized characters (like Stellar Blade), this is just the reality. People generally want the characters to be attractive, regardless of gender. Practically, the vast majority of popular male characters are attractive and "sexy". The only one I could think of is maybe Marcus from GoW, Trevor and maybe Nico from GTA.



I also wouldn't dismiss the "puritan" argument when discussing this general topic. You see this every fucking where online (with games, movies, etc) and even in this right here thread. Plenty of people online seem to be under the mentality than femininity = inherently bad/problematic, and we really can't have this discussion without highlighting this, cause it's a problematic and misogynistic facet that seemingly rears its head whenever this topic is brought up.



Also, and I'm sorry but as a gay man, I want more of that Marvel Rivals Captain America stuff, not that it's a "solution" or anything of the sort, but because it's playful, less problematic than overtly sexualizing female characters and way overdue. But tbh, as I'm typing all this, I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing
