That's it, because fundamentally GenAI coding still works on the theft of people's work (and yes, it can be creative in nature) and is bad for the planet. So you do need to find a line between the extremes on a practical basis when it comes to how to handle the discussion of games on the forum. I don't think the 'unwavering ethics' line comes into it too much honestly. Broader actions have always been more in service of the community than some attempt at making an external impact. Unless you mean on a user basis, but even then people have varying lines. Some people absolutely aren't playing anything with known signs of AI, and I don't blame them for taking "everything is AI" style posts as anything other than being said to them in bad faith. Others dislike AI but it doesn't stop them from playing a game with it (in the same way other issues don't prevent many other people from engaging with those products). There's never going to be a clean cut consensus across a userbase of this size when speaking to individual action.

I can see a potentially incoming moderation problem for the GTA leaks thread - people appear to be lobbying for a separate thread for spoilers, as they don't want to see spoilers, but they're in a leak thread already tagged spoilers. I can see trying to have two threads for the same leaks is going to be a problem.

I can get there being a divide between people wanting to see gameplay spoilers (graphics, mechanics, areas) without getting into story spoilers. Considering these are, so far, only ~2 minute clips though I think spoiler tagging story spoilers within the thread should suffice. Isn't hard to do, and allows for both to remain within the same thread. It's not unlikely that when we get the Lucia story leak we may see other leaks in a similar vein to those we've had up to now (like boat or underwater gameplay).

I'm gonna be real, asking people to tag spoilers in a literal spoiler thread is totally absurd. If you don't want to be spoiled, then don't go into the spoiler thread.

Story spoilers mixed in it is then. No real skin off my back, it's just clear from the discussion… everywhere… there's a large difference in the way current general gameplay spoilers are being taken vs. the story spoilers that are due to drop in a day and a half.

Only on this site could users go into a leaks thread and complain about spoilers. Its the very nature of what leaks are... Like, I thought the whole spoiler title thing several pages back was already flimsy but this is just really darn silly lol.





Problem is, what is a gameplay spoiler and what's a story spoiler? Certain vehicles or certain mission types could lean into either, and some might not even realise that one is the other. What if there's a line of dialogue during the gameplay clip which eludes or states something that's happening in the story?

What about the map that supposedly leaked? That's probably story ajacent since you can see the whole map, maybe certain areas in a bit more detail - knowing there's certain areas in the game could absolutely be something you can join the dots to... Its a slippery slope and knowing this site, people will absolutely complain no matter what.

If its a flat out ending cutscene, sure people might wanna give users a heads up, but I just think anyone whose in the leaks thread should be prepared to see... leaks - any sort of leak.

Like I say above it makes little difference to me, I'm responding to the discussion that's been happening in the thread.If you've been following the discussion in various places around the GTA VI leaks then the upcoming Lucia spoilers (titled Lucia [ispoiler]prologue[/ispoiler]) are absolutely being taken as a step further, and as 'story spoilers' relative to what's being shown. People have genuinely been asking for a separate thread for them lol. The phrase "if they start dropping story spoilers" has probably been used thousands of times atp.

Best scenario is to run it like the long running Pokemon leaks thread (which sounds like is what's happening): post everything, but in the lead up to release, courtesy spoiler tag things you regard as story spoilers. But if you end up getting spoiled because you & someone else have a difference in opinion of what is story spoilers, you just gotta grin & bear it as that's the risk of being in a leak thread.



Then when the game actually comes out, a normal spoiler thread can be made. But it's an impossible task to spoiler guard leaks before release.

It's an actual spoiler thread, if you don't want to be spoiled then don't go into it.

At most you could ask OP to specificaly label each leak with "story spoiler" and "gameplay clip" threadmarks.

That's a decent approach imo. I'm watching them either way since it's clear the game is set to be massive beyond the drips we've seen. But there's been a discussion around it (and 'story' spoilers) pretty much the entire length of the past week, so seems a headache might be coming which is all I think [USER=9712]RedbullCola[/USER] was trying to pre-empt. Dropped a note in the thread all the same so people have warning. Thankfully there's a literal countdown to the leak lol.

It's cool, people know and will dip if they don't want the Lucia story spoilers. What with someone dropping $6,000 to make it happen it's pretty clear it'll drop so there's a solid amount of forewarning in general. Like, it's been how long and these dudes really think Trump is some kind of fervent white supremacist who would care about such a thing rather than somebody the Target CEO could gain favor with just by saying nice things about him some morning on Fox and Friends.
