damn, some people are really sneaky in trying to hijack traffic of innocent netizens just looking for a brewery or beer review site and/or a coffee enthusiast platform

Now it seems to have gone through, but I thought it'd send you to thebire.com/forum instead of just to thebire.com. Maybe I should just keep thebore.net as an alias instead of forcing people to the new domain. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

edit: I put an .htaccess file that was supposed to fix the more simple domain thing to preserving the paths but it doesn't seem to do anything. Hope people can not get too turned on by the wlw image or blinded by the red background to see the forum link.

Forwarding is still weird. I kept getting an SSL error with my old bookmark, thought the whole site went down or something until I saw some reddit recommendation to change https to http when getting an SSl error. Not sure why but then it worked

The botched bookmark link
https://www.thebore.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=2

Is there a way to fix this? I'm just thinking about how there's maybe some people who check in pretty irregular and just happen to have an old bookmark saved and now think the site is gone. If it's a big hassle then no need though, maybe I'm just overthinking it.

My assumption was that SSL would automatically update over time but I will take a look. Maybe I have to generate a new key or something.

Okay, so what I think is the problem is that thebire.com's SSL is correct but thebore.net's must not be because it's supposed to just direct you to the homepage. (Since I couldn't get the redirect to properly operate.) BUT thebore.net's old one isn't inherently wrong because it's the same exact server.

I think the problem with your bookmark is that it specifies a particular URL which thebore.net ignores now. I imagine there may be a way to "correct" this but for the same reason that I stopped trying to correct the redirect, the tools offered by the host aren't particular enough and my knowledge of what to do at the lower level is nowhere near good enough. I don't seem to have access to thebore.net's stuff anymore because I setup that redirect.

I understand your argument and it does concern me but using Bayesian probability I have to conclude that the number of people who bookmarked a specific URL like you did and wouldn't jump back to the main URL as a check is small. I imagine most people would have bookmarked /forum/ only so it shouldn't trigger the same. I actually have wondered if people getting the now red homepage would be confused.

I stupidly switched to the forum's emerald theme and there's no drop-down menu to switch away from this monstrosity.

Save me from forum theme genocide Benji.

That got me to thinking, I think I will delete the other themes and clone the default one to make an actual dark theme or at least darker theme. I've messed with stuff enough by now that I can attempt that and it's a better idea than the one I had about slowly darkening the main one. I'll probably start by just changing the background to black and making colors darker and people can suggest tweaks to that.

I just took a look at the themes since it had been a while and I think I may add a mobile-specific theme that's become available from somebody since the "responsive" shit doesn't seem to actually ever work. One problem is that likes will not immediately be available on it but if people would be willing to try it just to see if it's any good then if they prefer it I can probably figure the likes out if turning them off and back on doesn't solve it.

It probably shouldn't effect anything on the default theme but if in a couple days you visit and everything's broken this will be the reason.

I can only find the option to switch this in the user settings. I am using it right now for irony and funny.

However my amusement is diminished because I can easily and intentionally change it back at any time :(

my life is immeasurably worse

emerald should be the only theme. And the broken image should be even bigger.
