Nobody is telling you this but the absolute bottom has dropped out of the European gaming market.

None of the Black Friday sales are sold out a week after they went up.
And that includes Sonic Generations at 50% off, Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed: Mirage at 75% off and even Nintendo games at 20% - 25% off. 

Industry trying to sell €70 - €80 games when consumers won't even bite at €30. 

Not sure if people just started to buy everything digital but the only recent release that is sold out in some places is Dragon Quest III for Switch.
I think next year stores will start to cut orders significantly if they don't clear out their stocks for the holidays.

People are buying digital over physical, this has not been a secret. Dragon Quest selling out it has more to do with low shipment numbers.

I hope Square does a remaster of Chrono Trigger in the same style as the remakes for DQ1-3. It'd be rad for a PS4/5 version of the game as well, same with Triangle Strategy since Octopath Traveler 1 got one this past summer. I'm a whore for trophies at times.

I was kind of surprised that Dragon Quest is full price. I never played the series before so I was curious but at that price I'll probably get Metaphor first

Japan is going to buy it at full price and they don’t want to risk losing money by them importing a cheaper version.

I used to be part of the crowd that had to buy games on day one. Mind you this is when digital copies were pretty much non existent for a lot of games, specifically DS and Wii games, even some PS3 games as well.

Nowadays if I'm going to play it I buy it. If it's a game I'm on the fence about, I just wait for a sale or wait until I actually want to play the game down the road. The idiots on ReeeeEra probably spend a fortune on sales when a better one is just a couple months away.

I used to buy tons of games at $60. Games worth $70 are few and far between.
