Ok, listen, I know that the sweet spot launch price for consoles is (was?) 400-500$ for years. As was for phones, TVs and other stuff aeons ago. Now people buy 1500 dollars phones every year, 2k+ TVs etc. And no one seems to shed a tear. Tech is becoming more and more expensive, mostly because of companies artificially inflating prices. When it comes to gaming systems higher launch prices could and should correlate with better specs, tho. I suppose 1000$ consoles would easily provide enough horsepower to last a 6-7 year generation cycle, without the need for "pro" versions mid-gen. And I would pay that price to get this kind of performance with all the bells and whistles (4K, 60fps, wow level ray-tracing etc).

I built a PC for about £1300 3 years ago with a 3060ti and through devious piracy and a 60hz tv I have done very well out of it overall. I wish I didn't have to have a PC to play games but I think there's value in building it yourself for all kinds of reasons if you're into games in your adulthood. I think I'll skip the PS5 Pro and get one of the 5000 series cards and a switch 2 instead, because this PS5 pro will probably be less good than my 3 year old mid range pc with dlss

Without a doubt the big drawback is having to use windows, it feels like the fucking stone age. All kinds of nonsense with connecting pads to games on launch day. Fuck off bill.

As someone who's played Runescape since 2007, I was learning more things playing Runescape than I realized. You wouldn't think that but doing stuff like Smithing, Fishing, Woodcutting, Farming and so on teaches you way more than you'd think. Shoutout to Runescape one time.

Funny thing is, Linux is actually starting to get good at gaming too. Seriously. I don't know what sort of black magic valve used to make their wine fork just werk. Works on a large majority of games, except anti cheat stuff. (so gaas slop mainly, nothing really worthwhile).
