Cynically, makes me think that in an alternate universe Iran has a point to try to get nuclear weapons because suddenly they look like the cool headed ones in the room. If the 'good' guys here are running a genocide in their backyard determined to bring war to the Middle East I don't know the option to stop it, particularly with a US cool with it happening.

We (in the US) need enough people to realize we are the bad guys and start reorienting messaging, culture, and the leaders we vote in around creating a country that is less evil.

Is Israel's army even capable of projecting force through a ground invasion? I don't get the vibe they're good at much besides what they've been doing, i.e. bombing at a distance.

Their tank units are especially shitty lol. There won't be much infantry combat I don't think... Both to avoid giving Hezbollah an opportunity to acquire captives, and because it's not really that necessary.

The ground invasion is just to justify more destruction. A step on the escalation ladder. They're not holding Gaza with the forces there already, as Hamas keeps popping back up in areas claimed to have been cleared by the IDF, not sure they'll have enough people period. The actual war will be conducted with relentless airstrikes on civilian population centers, while Hezbollah responds similarly in deploying their ballistic missiles in conjunction with what they've been doing already with suicide drones and dumb rockets.

This was the post about tanks. It's a modern military versus a guerilla paramilitary (that just got its leadership wiped out with pagers) in population centers, no duh there won't be "much infantry combat" but not because of the latter reasons. They absolutely believe Israel can't do this, not that they refrain from doing it.

The IDF says it carried out Friday's air strike while Hezbollah leadership met at the group's central headquarters in Dahiyeh, south of Beirut.

In addition to killing Nasrallah, the IDF says, the attack also killed Ali Karki, the commander of Hezbollah's southern front, and other Hezbollah commanders.

The Lebanese health ministry earlier said six people had been killed and 91 injured in the attacks, which levelled six apartment buildings.
