I legitimately think some people believe that Harris herself hates Muslims and is ordering her campaign to do things like this.

Yep, which is why I don't consider it unforced. The positions of this campaign towards Israel and Muslim/Arab and progressive pro Palestine folks makes these types of situations more likely. That bleeds down further into lower level campaign staff that are fearful of any moments where the "Gaza situation" (as I keep seeing it phrased by people that don't want to call it out more directly) rears its head into a moment where the campaign loses their grip on the messaging.
