After all, women can enjoy violence too.
I really didn't expect this article to make me reflect like this.

Quote:"As a result of the assault and the resulting injuries, including vertigo and nerve damage, Prince says he is unable to seek and maintain employment," the lawsuit says. "He suffers from constant fear, anxiety, apprehensiveness, depression and feelings of worthlessness as a result."

He didn't feel worthless already? Was he proud of being a carjacker?

They just hate Bloober or they didn't bother reading the article or they're pretending to care or trying to look like they have the moral higher ground. I'm not sure some of you understand or care about why people reacted so badly and that's really going to need to matter more if you're trying to weigh in on sexism, feminism, how it shapes portrayals of women in media and how people react to them.
Morrigan wrote:Not to mention people saying "I get it" and defending the non-sarcastic interpretation of the text... hmmmmm

I mean, you are living negative feminist stereotype Morrigan.

You guys really miss that period of time where people could get cancelled for saying “I’m not a feminist.”

No wonder why Messy is searching anything to shit on it, as a contingent of ERA still wants to shit on the game because reasons.

Quote:Though, Cronos: The New Dawn isn't a political statement – "no feminist agenda here," director Jacek Zięba swears to God while we talk during a recent hands-on event in California. "It's not like we hate ourselves, or males," it's just the simple fact that it's "more interesting to have a female protagonist in some strange suit in a sci-fi setting than to put another male one."

Uh... sorry, but where is the "sarcasm" in saying "no feminist agenda here"? Was he being sarcastic because there is actually a "feminist agenda" in the game... or did he say it in a mocking tone to look edgy to appeal to bigots online?

"Ha, ha, yeah, don't worry, guys, no feminist nonsense here, we aren't like that!"

I don't know, maybe it is because English isn't my first language, but if this was supposed to be a "joke," I don't find it funny.

Actually, this sounds to me like they are trying to play both sides, like when someone says something obviously rude and hurtful and when someone else calls them out for it, they quickly say: "It was just a joke! You guys have no sense of humor!"

Except it wasn't a joke.

Narrator: it was a joke.

He explains the joke, followed by the normal meaning. Era conflates "feminism" with "not hating women" but the guy is joking saying "feminist agenda" to say it's not about the "hates men" stereotype. Era posters live in such a paranoid bubble that they think "women should be mostly equal to men" isn't the norm so it then becomes this bold feminist proclamation. It's not, you're the ones out of touch and gaslighting yourselves. Everyone else has lived in the world where there's been multiple waves of feminism already. This is why modern feminism is infinitely split over topics like "should women be allowed to want sex with and make themselves attractive to men?", "should pornography be a hate crime against women?", "should women have their own separate sports?" and other such specific debates. When people refer to "feminism" or "feminists" they mean this kind of thing, not the feminism of 1890. These guys believe "you shouldn't beat and rape women" is this brave and stunning position that shocks the normies.

Era posters have no arguments for their positions so they have to conflate the two so they can browbeat and emotionally abuse people for "rejecting feminism" if they think consensual pornography shouldn't be illegal. Oops, wait, Era sides with the libs on that one rather than certain academic feminists and other leftists. Damn complexity, stop helping the ruling class!

Quote:As a Canadian, you absolutely did. I appreciate that it was not intentional, perhaps coming out of instinct to want to believe an actor who is quite beloved and is probably in a lot of movies you like isn't so terrible on a level beyond the average, but there is aggravating context here that makes it beyond the usual liberal fence-sitting. Equating it to just usual average liberal attitudes from that US lens absolutely downplays it and disregards specific cultural and political context, even without meaning to.

We're talking about someone who claims to be proud of being from a country, who profits from that association, being at an event where the literal prime minister is giving a speech about standing up to the country that threatened to invade us, and then gave an utterly spineless 'maybe we should learn from the people who are threatening to invade us?'

I appreciate that you didn't intend to, but you did in effect. Not being Canadian, not having that perspective, I understand it. But as someone with that perspective, please do learn from that and just what makes this so much more damning than the usual and already-lamentable shitty lib actor stances.

It had been several days since they'd been falsely imprisoned for a massacre in the Golden Saucer--which mockingly loomed over the entire facility--but when had the truth ever stopped Shinra oppression? So here she was, busting rocks twelves hours a day, with only the prospect of being a Chocobo jockey to look forward to. Tifa gave a sidelong glance at the door to the ruined cabin as it swung open. Aerith; even with a frayed blouse and frizzy brown hair, she exuded an aura of pure, feminine beauty. Tifa had always felt a weird sensation when around her as group, but now separate from the rest of the party it had begun to manifest as an uncomfortable awkwardness.

Realizing she had been eyeing her, Tifa cleared her throat. "So, any luck meeting up with the guys?"

She tilted her head, biting her lip. "Well... yes and no. I met with Barrett and Cloud--they seemed to be alright--but the wall dividing he camp is really sturdy and heavily guarded. We agreed to meet back tomorrow morning between guard shifts to discuss the situation more."

Tifa leaned back in her chair, rubbing her chin. "So you met Cloud... did you talk about anything?"

Aerith blinked. "Besides trying to get out of here you mean? No, why do you ask?"

"It's just..." Tifa searched for the words. "Well, you've been getting along awful well with him, having just met him and all, and I just-"

"Is this really the time for that?" Aerith said with a hint of frustration. "We need to work together to get out of here."

"I wasn't saying anything," Tifa said with a shrug, throwing up her gloved hands. "Just curious is all."

Aerith sighed, then glanced over at the table set across from her. "Wait, they brought you food?"

"Hmph?" Tifa gave a perplexed look. "What are you-"

Out of the corner of her, she saw it, startling her from her seat. A nicely prepared tray with two pieces of fruit sat on the table; a pear and a slice of watermelon, with a note she couldn't read due to the distance and dim lighting. Tifa noticed Aerith's eyes were now glaring her.

"Th-that wasn't here before..." she muttered, slowly making her way over to the table.

Aerith brushed back one of her bangs as she strutted forward as well.'Yes, I'm supposed to believe you didn't notice them bringing in a platter of food... have they been feeding you this the whole time, while the rest of us are stuck with gruel?"

"I haven't touched it," Tifa explained. "I literally noticed it just now." She picked up the note, which read, in elegant cursive: "COURTESY OF H. , WITH LOVE."

"And they brought us just two pieces of fruit," Aerith scoffed.

"I mean, there are two of us, so it does kinda make sense," Tifa said, holding out the note for Aerith to see. "Apparently a gift of some guy named H-something? Probably a guard I'd bet."
