Quote:Haus has a very large following, so folks jumped in to accuse Basil of being a Nazi sympathizer for saying the StoneToss comic was better structured than the Haus comic. Basil was also accused of being a fascist and an ethno-nationalist, somehow. Much of this animosity stems from Basil’s infamous firebombing a WalMart tweet, which the online left has never recovered from.

Others accused Haus of Decline of being mentally ill, and even worse, of making terrible comics. Lots of people were unapologetically called slurs, except when Haus misgendered Basil and then apologized because apparently accidental misgendering is worse than calling someone a Nazi fascist racist.2
Quote:I’m sorry, but “He is a fascist racist Nazi apologist dipshit who I personally despise, and will spend the next four hours ranting against”. “I don’t use he/him”. “Oh sorry my bad, that was uncool, I meant the rest though” is one of the funniest exchanges of all time.

I love how it always comes with a dose of condescension

"I thought you wanted to abolish prisons?"

"Of course not you fucking idiot! Abolish prisons means that people I don't like have to go to prison!"

"Read the theory", "read a book", "it's not on me to educate you" and stuff like that is the same. It's not a real suggestion, it's not helping the person understand, it's calling them stupid but being dishonest about it because you can always claim there's an explanation somewhere they just have to find and read to see the light. Never is there one, especially if they don't point you towards where you're supposed to even start. The person just feels they shouldn't have to explain themselves to a lesser, which you are because you questioned them.

Nah.

Spoiler:  (click to show)
I agree with what I assume is your general thrust (all social media being bad), but Twitter might be the least bad of those that's still alive (RIP MySpace) and the tradeoff is that at times actual news can filter through the rest of the bullshit before that news makes it to MSM or even other communication platforms.  So I'll deal with the 100 million indian sock puppets and bots for now.

My main takeaway from the NYC primary is this just reinforces the fact that democratic candidates are held to a much higher standard than republicans. Andrew Cuomo had A LOT of baggage between the sexual misconduct allegations and the nursing homes COVID scandal leading to him resigning in disgrace yet the DNC still ran him anyways.

All that unprecedented PAC spending for Cuomo was the electoral equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig so NYC voters took their chance with the young, hip democratic socialist over the known quantity.
