The thing that is most puzzling to me about this whole chapter of Fat4All doesn't even have to do with transness...Melody Shreds is essentially a depressing bore of a person. There's no "there" there. 

We all make fun of Fat4Cum, but at least there's a discernible personality behind his bad jokes and sexual fixations. Melody Shreds is literally the person who posts on a forum for a decade and you still can't place their name or associate them with their posting history, because it's all so forgettable and one note (I'm saying this from experience: I didn't even really "know of" Melody as a ResetEra poster until I came here, and I posted there for years  )

The NYT has played a central role in feeding misinformation about trans people. This case seems to have little to do with the shooter having a trans identity and a whole lot more with the shooter getting caught up in some of the more toxicparts of internet discourse.
