This is from two years ago, we're doomed. We already should have stopped AI, it's too powerful:

https://www.theverge.com/news/614883/humane-ai-hp-acquisition-pin-shutdown

Quote:Humane is selling most of its company to HP for $116 million and will stop selling AI Pin, the company announced today.

AI Pins that have already been purchased will continue to function normally until 3PM ET on February 28th, Humane says in a support document. After that date, Pins will “no longer connect to Humane’s servers.” As a result, AI Pin features will “no longer include calling, messaging, AI queries / responses, or cloud access.” Humane is also encouraging users to download any pictures, videos, and notes stored on their Pins before they are permanently deleted at that shutdown time.

After the shutdown, offline features like “battery level” will still work, Humane says, but “any function that requires cloud connectivity like voice interactions, AI responses, and .Center access” will not.

Humane will only offer refunds on AI Pins that are “within the 90-day return window from their original shipment date,” according to an FAQ about the shutdown. Refunds “must be submitted by February 27th, 2025.” If you have paid for a Humane subscription past February 28th, Humane says “..we will process a prorated refund.”

imagine spending $700 for this

less than a year later, all it does is tell you how much battery life it has left Dead

There’s a store outside of Ueno station exclusively selling AI art t shirts of two varieties: nude Hollywood actresses with the boob slider at max. And Trump’s head on a bodybuilder’s body.

If you look at the same shop on Google Maps from 2022 and earlier, they were selling generic shirts. AI has helped them grow the business.

Posting this here rather than the shitbin even though its a direct response to retarderas takes on James Camerons thoughts on using generative AI to improve VFX budgets.

Ai generated shampoo advert, fine, whatever, its a shampoo ad.
But whose work was stolen, whose job got destroyed, why is this creatives work not actually his own work and / or creative, and what are the negative ethical implications of doing it this way rather than a different way?

I really don't know how I would tell that's AI-generated rather than normal CGI, it doesn't look any more or less uncanny

The moral hazard of this ad overpromising and implying that the shampoo grants hydrokinetic powers, fruit-phasing abilities, and sets completely unrealistic expectations for hair washing?? Uhh, consumer protection anyone??   uhhhhhhhhhhh bait and switch?  Uhhh, it's the digital equivalent of the goose-step, marching us towards a future where nothing is real and the machine dictates all - no more independence, just pure instruction dictated from above.  Sound familiar?  How many Beer Hall Putsches have you participated in?  *grabs you by the collar* How many FUCKING putsches??????
