The unfortunate reality is that Americans are proving that they don't just not understand trans people but they don't understand nonbinary fluid spectrums at all. They are confused and they are frightened and they are resisting and they are rejecting. People want their simple comfortable binaries, and to that end we will undo a decade's worth of progress if not more, and it doesn't matter if it's in rejection of ongoing scientific study because this is about language and this is about culture (though it definitely doesn't help that American culture is rapidly becoming anti-science).

Almost like "No Debate", "shut up TERF BITCH" and trying to destroy the lives of anybody with questions or concerns wasn't persuading people.
