Hi, I'm melissa, and I just finished uni (I also drew the truck)!

Life has been a bit shit for me over the past few years, from poor mental health, to homelessness, to abusive ex's, to chronic illness...
However, I'm now finally in a position where I have stable housing, loving partners, and my mental and physical health is being treated.

So what's next for me?... Independence!

I want to be able to go places, do things, and have agency in doing so.
I tried learning to drive when I was 17 however my failing health at the time made this an impossibility, 8 years later I'm looking to try again!
Just one small problem, cars and lessons are very expensive, and I'm very broke after being homeless and still being unemployed.

Having a car and learning to drive would open up so many opportunities for me, making it easier to find jobs, letting me travel even when my body isn't up for walking, letting me see my friends I haven't been able to visit for years!



It's a big ask, but every penny will help immensely.

The £6k I'm asking for is broken down into 3 equal chunks

£2k for the required lessons and documents (why the hell are lessons so expensive)

£2k for insurance, tax, and fuel (Maybe even more, insurance is wild)

£2k for a car that runs, drives, and passes its MOT (I know I can technically get one cheaper but I need one that isn't falling apart)

If we don't hit the goal any money raised will be put into savings for eventual driving and car uses.
If we raise more than the £6k I promise to put it towards getting an even better and cooler car, with flames and racing stripes.

I see that one a lot on social media from healthy at any size people. A favorite in the trans sphere is when they go between saying they barely eat and also talking about how they can't get gender affirming surgery because they're too fat (350+ lbs) for doctors to operate on.
