Oh I'd forgotten about these lunatics, they literally think that every single famous person is secretly trans. the process of localization means that sometimes you do have to make up something to get the point across to a different culture, like coming up with a different joke that wouldn't have worked, but to completely change the meaning of a throwaway line to something completely different from how native speakers would've understood it?

what has me more convinced of peoples' sincerity, that they've been dealing with this shit for years and enough is enough, is the fact that it's not all about "woke" lines

I saw some video, I forget where, where the criticism wasn't that the localizer was woking up the anime, but that they were adding weird fetishy things and modern meme speak

like some character was supposed to talk about how they were waiting for someone, but instead mentioned that they had to pee, for no reason at all

you would think anime nerds might welcome localizations that embrace horniness, but no, they just want the fucking thing to be accurate

now based on what I know of japanese, it's an exceedingly boring utilitarian Vulcan language, so perfectly accurate translations would tend to be bland, but that's just my opinion, and if bland is accurate then so be it

It's actually an interesting question considering not only white people stories have this but pretty much all stories deal with these topics in one way or another.
Even something as peaceful has Animal Crossing still involves paying debts. The closest we can get are stories about battles between minds but those still involve competition.

And it's kind of strange considering white women have the ability to tell stories about nothing on a daily basis.

plot is the outcome of conflict between characters. If you do not have conflict, you do not have a plot and you cannot move forward with the story, with a few exceptions, but that is the underlying reason why those things make it into so many stories across all cultures.

correct, and thankfully creators are also seeing that staying true to the source material and protecting their work gets rewarded and leads to success 

In fact you'll see that most creators who did not bend to the whims of the shall we say vocal communities who demanded censorship, accessibility and forced diversity found the most success when the dust settled. There are success stories with making niche games more approachable from a gameplay and mechanics standpoint but none in terms of content changes.  

It will be interesting to see what happens with Stellar Blade on PS5. Sony is publishing a game from an artist best known for waifu gacha games who gets praised for those designs by his fellow creators. Now the question is, will Sony censor and tame it down for the west like they demand third party titles on their platform to be censored? If they don't it basically ends their censorship regime. 

Nintendo is having such success that they won't change their "don't worry she's a 9000 year old dragon" policy anytime soon but that will eventually lead to a clash with Nintendo Treehouse as it's not hard to guess where the Fire Emblem and Xenoblade teams will use the more powerful Switch 2 GPU for.
