Building a comic book movie around 82 year old Harrison Ford is a choice.

But really the Marvel movies were always slop. It was just the right type of content at the right time
Basically anyone wanted to tag along and watch a Marvel movie in its hey day. Even if they weren't very good it didn't really matter.

I always went for dinner first and then head to the movies with my friends and/or co-workers, that accounted for like 50% of the Marvel experience and then afterwards you'd be like: "Oh yeah that thing Iron Man did was pretty cool". I barely watched any of the Marvel movies at home because as a movie in and by itself it was just mid.

To be fair, it probably is less Mackie and just that the character just isn't all that appealing. Like let's be honest, comic book characters already don't tend to have the deepest personalities and then Falcon doesn't even have an interesting background or origin story. It's just a dude with wings, and he's captain america now.

I posted it a little bit before you, but I think ultimately "Mackie is a great actor!" ignores all the outside aspects, which can still make make Mackie (or MCU's Sam Wilson if you wanna get technical) a hard transition to swallow, regardless of his chops.

None of the other Avengers are getting replaced with the definition of "some guy". There was no proper passing of the torch outside of some crap tier Disney show you need a subscription to watch. Making Don Cheadle the new Iron Man would've gotten a similar reception.

I think there is a valid racial argument to be made here about the pitfalls of constantly making the designated second-string dude a <insert minority> guy so often, but anyone intelligent enough to engage on that level probably smart enough to avoid wasting thought and energy on stupid Marvel movies. 

But I think it also is worth noting that everyone shrugged when Shuri became the new Black Panther, and there's no real racial aspect there to latch onto.

EDIT: I just remembered that one of the big scenes in the Captain America show was meme'd on for a long time for being so silly and stupid. Sam Wilson giving some speech to politicians to be more gooder was the writing on the wall.

The whole torch pass just seemed badly done. I don't even think it worked int the comics either, at least have I never heard anyone fondly talk about a Falcon Captain America story. Never seen any "Must read comics to prepare for Falcon Cap" articles either.
Now the MCU sometimes turned bad comics into something good but they lost that sauce a good while ago.

I think Marvel also became a victim of its own success, a bit like the Wii.

Many normies went to see Marvel movies but then also went to see other things and upgraded to different tastes.
I know quite a few people who didn't watch movies at all, started with Marvel and then moved on to stuff like John Wick because they liked the action or romcoms because they liked the comedy.

Narcan is not essential unless you are on opioids. No offense to you because I know you need them because you health problems. I was thinking in commies like Hachikoma when I wrote that.
