I've loved the game pretty much since launch; it's just super addicting to me, and they keep adding so much new stuff in their updates that it becomes a little daunting to think about. Silly "problem" to have though, makes me very excited to see what they do with that fantasy follow-up they're making.

Gears of War Judgment.
It's a weird game with it's two campaigns. The main campaign is basically just a string of arcade shooting galleries tied together with some loose story. Then there's the Aftermath campaign which feels like cut content from Gears 3. I didn't like the main campaign, but Aftermath feels like Gears.

I've been dipping in and out of Ys Memoire: Oath in Felghana. It's good--it's always been good.
BUT I really want Falcom to revive and release OG Ys 3. The janky sidescroller one. The SNES game was my intro to the whole series, and it's just so unique...I don't know that I'd ever call it a good game, but the weird spastic gameplay and funky music is one-of-a-kind. That little jingle for the Sammy logo at the beginning sounds like a parody of a grand, respectable brand lol. ![]()

I've tried most of the modern YS games but the only one I ever liked was oath in felghana

The only other two of its style are Ys 6 and Origin. Ys 6 came first, then Oath is a remake of Ys 3, and Origin is a spinoff of sorts. I liked those more than 7 onward. I will say, from the demo Ys X is a nice change to the formula. Only haven’t bought it because they announced an updated version.

so is avowed worth playing?

It's like Trails is bleeding into Ys in a bad way. The Ys X demo certainly didn’t do anything to limit the wordiness of the games. I’ll say, it’s not exactly a new game but Nayuta Boundless Trails feels closer to the 6-era of Ys. Helps that it’s shorter than the recent games as well. Since 7 they’ve gotten three times as long.
Obsessively playing Jaki Crush the ghetto SNES/Famicom version of Alien Crush/Demon's Crush, and Devil Crash the MD version of Demon's Crush...Which neither are as good as their PCE counterparts but the Music on Jaki Crush is repetitive but very catchy and the MD music is better than the PCE version imo...and the sequel to Devil's Crash Dragon's Revenge!

Tomb Raider IV is one of the best games of its generation. Been finishing that up in the IV-VI collection.

Have you played Demon’s Tilt and Xenotilt? Pretty good modern indie homages of those games.

Presentation-wise its pretty different, but the only game I ever played that halfway-scratched the Devil Crush itch for me was the obscure PS2 game, Flipnic.
![]() I'd buy a modern port in a heartbeat.

Just finished Atomfall and while the game was short (all 6 endings took me about 13 hours of playtime with some reloading of previous saves) it was still pretty fun. Combat was very middling but the exploration was solidly enjoyable.

Started playing Sifu on PS5.
Wow, such hot fucking garbage. How did this get serious hype.
04-06-2025, 04:39 PM
It was a big game for Sony I think. They had console exclusive rights.

I was expecting it to be a cool beat em up with nice smooth combos and shit, but it's fucking awful. Wooden movement, button mashing gameplay. The previews really oversold it.

Thank christ; I tried playing it and hated it, and thought there was something wrong with me.

tbh I played it on the easier difficulty that removes the aging mechanic. The combat wasn’t tight enough to feel like mistakes were on me. Enjoyed it enough that way.

Speaking of Sifu, I've been playing Saga Frontier 2, which is also retarded in an inscrutable way.
However, I like these stupid games and welcome this experience. Also, the upscaled backgrounds are genuinely gorgeous. It has materially contributed to my enjoyment of a game where enjoyment can be elusive. ![]() Also thank christ for variable battle speed. That was the biggest splash of cold water going from Frontier 1 (which had pretty speedy battles) to Frontier 2 (which--aside from being an incredibly different game altogether than the first--has some fucking slow ass combat).

- Paid $2 for Bleak Sword on Switch. Great game, hooked me in. Quick and a nice feeling of skill. Beat it too.
- DUSK is quite good. Quake but with levels set in actual human landscapes. About to beat it. - Serious Sam original, I must like simple stuff these days but this game really did it for me. Beat it. - Xenoblade X I'm playing this after ramming through XC2 earlier this year. XX feels like a way better game aside from XC2's incredible soundtrack. I played XCX when it came out and I remember liking but dropping it inexplicably. This feels so much more engaging as a battle system and the world is quite impressive, even today. Story is whatever, but the pacing is good and (I think) it was improved as part of the release. ![]()
Xenoblade X looks fantastic but I'm going to hold out until Switch 2 hits. Almost feels like it should've been a launch game on that.
I also remember dropping it for no reason, I think it was just the general sluggish Wii U experience and slow loading times. ![]()

Been playing Khazan for weeks now. And I love it. Even though it’s ridiculously hard. I keep thinking I’m never beating this cunt and then getting the win. Great game.

I had the exact same thing happen on Wii U. I remember grabbing this and Fatal Frame 0 (?), both of which are stuff I'd normally be into and I dropped both inexplicably. It's sometimes hard to believe how I put up with that UI and then realize I tolerate the eshop now somehow. It's so fucking bad but I get a lot of mileage out of the ability to buy games in every currency. I've actually backburned it again as I ended up buying a bunch of games on whims. - Warriors Abyss, Hades + Warriors is fitting but this game has abysmal tutorials. It's frustrating too because I'm stuck early and I think it's because I'm not playing it quite right. Still, it scratches a weird itch that Musuo used to reach. I like playing it and I kind of hope it becomes a new line for them. There's a ton of little tweaks and things they could improve. - Disaster Report 4 - what, why? I almost played this years ago but I'm playing with my wife (she's Japanese) and lived there in 2011 during the earthquake. She's really captivated by the whole thing and it's not frequent that we play through a game together. Animal Crossing and nothing else. ![]() |
