Rather simple question, which fictional characters, whether they are from literature, film, Shows, animation, games etc would you like to be friendly neighbours with; whether you moving in next to them or them moving next doors to you?

Ones you'd have awkward talks to when you're both heading out to work with, have to go there house because the mailman delivered to the wrong door again and fled, chill out for a barbecue, got out for hot chocolate, talk stories, maybe go on trips together? Or if moving in next to them, go on adventures, be kidnapped by supervillains etc?

If yes, if so, why?

One thing that rubs me the wrong way is the assertion that kids and teenagers are "dumb" and "idiot" (especially compared to whoever is saying this) because it isn't true. Kids are now less or more intelligent then those who came before them, what they is less on the whole less knowledgeable (it frustrates me people conflate intelligence and knowledge, especially when this conflation who routinely been used to attack the poor, the exploited and those who were denied access to said knowledge by the rich, colonialism and corruption) and naïve which dud, they are kids and teenagers, the are younger and don't have the experiences that most of us adults do, we all go through that.

As adults, it is up to us not to exploit that to our own advantage, not to tell them lies, push them into hate and bigotry, push them out of their money through gambling tactics etc etc etc. But sadly we do; and it's so normalized that we don't even care. Some many game companies, especially mobile companies exploit their children audiences out of their money through paid RNG and microtransactions, influencers who pushes hateful nonsense and lies for views and to feed to algorithms. We push unhealthy expectations onto kids like body image and beauty standards and then mock and blame them when they suffer from anxiety and other issue because of what we pushed on them.

This has only escalated with how social media pushes this sort of media onto kids and teenagers. I've been watching a YouTuber named Ann Reardon who focuses on food and deep diving into how social media and YouTube push lies and misinformation onto children (not just hate, just lies about food making, sometimes INCREDIBLY dangerous ones that can and does get people hurt and killed because it's what feeds the algorithm) and honestly, this shit should have been regulated YEARS ago.

I really feel their needs to be more spaces online, sites and programming, support etc made for children and teenagers. Places where they can't be exploited, that teaches them through fun (remember when sites used to have fun activities? God I miss that) or just gives them access to information and support that isn't being diluted through corporate media and influencers. I feel my own generation would have benefited so much from that.

And not even talking about edutainment sort of content. Kids in my opinion should not talked down to and should be hidden away from topics like depression, addiction, bully (abuse), death, war etc and especially exploring news cultures, gender, sexuality, feminism and discrimination. So many kids live through these and experience them daily and it's GOOD for them to let understand that, to know they aren't alone and that their feelings aren't wrong, especially in an environment not trying to exploit them with rage-bait and monetary incentives.

Because, and I know this is going to be controversial, I don't think the idea of social media is itself evil or bad, it CAN be a source for good. The issue is that it's been allowed to be exploited and turned into a hellzone due to a lack of moderation, corporate interests and Rightwing techbros allowed to run them. But that doesn't mean the idea itself is bad. I've said this before, but I was heavily bullied as a kid, to the point that I suffer from lifelong trauma and depression because of 7 years of daily physical and emotional assault, homophobia, fatphobia and ableism, some of which done adults along with kids, to say once I was out of School I was a wreck is to put it lightly, I didn't believe friendship was real, I hated myself so much. Then I found an online community of people like me, of kind LGBTQ+ people who helped me so much, people who helped me realize I was trans, people who made me trust again, people from around the world who have helped me get past my anger, people who are now some of my closest friends. If it wasn't for them, I quite literally wouldn't be hear today.

That is why I believe social media can be a source for good if not exploited and why access to place where kids and teens can safely discuss their issues and feelings without the fear or being exploited, without fear of mockery, with people who understand and care is vital in this day and age.

Note: There was going to be a bit where I was going to discuss how I feel modern education system and adherence to the outdated and ableist Exam method doesn't help as it focuses to much on the what (aka facts to pass the exam) rather then the why, why it's important to understand and know about history, math, languages, social issues etc.

To me the why is MORE important then the what. For example with History, I think it's more important for kids to understand why it's important to understand history and the benefits of it and to find their own knowledge, understand sourcing, biases etc; then just a bunch of random factoids about a certain topic to pass an exam, after which most of that knowledge is forgotten because it didn't mean anything, it lacked context and in many cases, had massive holes in it.

Like WW2, both times this was taught in School (P7 and S2, Scottish system), at no point was the Pacific front EVER brought up not even the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; they make the war out like it was a European conflict only that ended on VE-Day, no mention of Russia, the US pops up because the Japanese randomly bombed Pearl Harbor, it's crazy to think about. The only time this didn't feel like the case was Advanced Higher History in S6 which instead focused on one topic all year (the Weimar Republic) and focused on the things I was talking about, same once I got into Higher Education with Film and TV and animal care. To me that should be the education system, not pointless exams.

... So yeah anyway, that was what I cut from the OP because I couldn't think of where to add it.

This is like the 5th or 6th in the ‘Fantasy Neighbour’ series of threads. In it, we see seepage from other threads that didn’t used to be there, chiefly the recently created thread signature of “Don’t be lewd.”, which I am starting to think is more for Echos than anyone else; kindof how Leonard writes “Don’t trust this man.” to himself in Memento.

The amount of time devoted to writing sheer drivel, and not only that, but to be constantly faced with a deafening wall of silence and still continue, should make it abundantly clear as to the complete lack of self-awareness they possess. It’s just a sad existence at this point. I just imagine Echos, holed up in some terrace house in some godforsaken part of Northern England, trapped in a house with 11 (12?) cats, an aunt, a mother, and several bemused wasps, frantically smacking their heads against the windows, either in a futile attempt to escape the Elmyra Duff-esque hellhole they’re trapped in, or simply to just put themselves out of their misery (maybe both!)

To fix this existence, Echos just constantly shits out threads imagining an existence where their neighbours aren’t female relatives, or cats, or half-dead insects and instead, exciting female (and gay females at that) fighting game characters who will both beat him up and tenderly care to his wounds, who will be his best friend and share their stash of magical hobgoblin farts with him. 

Fuck me it’s miserable.

It's really hard for anyone to engage with big walls of text unless they are well written. You have a bunch of gramatical mistakes and your thoughts are all over the place, which means I gave up parsing what you're trying to say by the second paragraph.

I believe there's probably a really interesting discussion to have here, but it won't happen when presented like this (on an online forum).
