Earlier today I posted a comment regarding Trump being closer to the center than ResetERA.com believes. The post is disturbing and horrible, and one of thousands happening across the country. I blamed people in this forum, including members of the mod team, and I was wrong for blaming people here for that. That was wrong of me and I’ve edited my post for two reasons, that, and because the video is hyper local there could be identifying information in it. My post has been quoted so I know I can’t remove it all, but I’m sorry for blaming people for something that this administration is doing. I was frustrated and angry and took it out on the wrong people, and I slept on it and regretted doing that. So, I’m sorry about that earnestly.

Again, genuinely asking out of genuine curiosity (haven't played them much myself other than a smidge of the second one for like 15 minutes), since it seems like the kinda game that peeps on Era and the left in general would despise. I figure it's the South Park principle, where it's so blanketly over-the-top offensive that it circles back to being funny.

Not judging anyone who fits into those categories that does like it btw; just from an outsider's perspective it seems like the kinda game you'd wanna avoid as much as possible.

Culture was different in 2004. The right was actively attacking the ability for creatives to say bad words or do things that are offensive. There were efforts to try to criminalize that in media, a revival of Regan-era politics on the issue. Dirtbags were suing game developers and publishers because the games had red pixels in them or something like that.

So the opposition reflectively flocked to those works as a way to show support. As things got better, people recamped to their natural sides - Liberals wanting people to be legally able to make offensive works but usually not actually wanting to engage with those works and the non-religious right becoming more comfortable with stuff that is offensive. Everything wound up where they intuitively should be. But the time period when Postal 2 came out in was weird - sites like 4Chan's politics board were dominated by opposition to the Bush administration and the Iraq war. Everything was topsy turvy.
