So 2025 has been... A year for many of us on this forum to say the least and it doesn't seem to end in sight. Hope you've all found ways to cope.



The past few weeks for me have been incredibly stressful for me, from the loss of some of pets cats, worry about friends in the US, the UK Government taking my rights away, frustration about my appearance, constant procrastination on my writing, money issues, certain new in-laws being trash and today has really been a bad one (and honestly feeling like a bit of fucking idiot right now making bad decision on top of bad decision on ERA today and feel like keep pissing people off). It's been a lot and even therapy has felt no helpful.



How has everyone been coping with the stress? Any techniques that have been helping, any comfort works like a show, cartoon, web series? Drinks or food that has been helping you out.



I've been playing more classic fighting games recently, been find it's been helping release excess anger, though it hasn't helped much today.

Please stop acting like we don't exist, this is the type of rhetoric used to try to justify objectification of women in those genres, to gloat about why X game failed, excluding women from discussions or even entire genres like superheroes and for companies just just not bothering to appeal to women. I feel people are taking this one survey to make extreme broad generalizations and dictate what women can and cannot like or that x genre shouldn't appeal to women.

Nothing, Pokemon is my favourite game series, it's then the idea to declare don't like X-Genres and things or that women don't like Aloy or series like Horizon or that women who do are just outliner or shouldn't be appealed (which often feels like say Game studios shouldn't bother being better or trying to appeal to women). There are many who adore Samus, I remember the damn outcry from women gamers after Other M, many women love Splatoon, an (ink) shooter, many women like Fire Emblem, fucking three houses especially is a corner stone in wlw circles where so many (me included) love Edelgard.

And like I said, these argument run close to ones I've seen used to justify not appealing to women, why companies like SNK or Team Ninja shouldn't clean up their act which as someone who loves figthing games and has banged the drum for more diversity and treatment of women in fighting game is frustrating.

The "Era myth" part feels rather insulting to suggest many women don't like and love women leads like Aloy, Ellie and Selene Vassos are more appealing to men when all of them and several others leads on the original list were and still are attacked by men for being too "ugly", not straight in the case of Ellie and Aloy, too "talky" etc etc; We've even seen this shit targeted at characters like Lara who historically was made to appeal to women but has historically but has made more of an effort to appeal to women (wlw and lesbians especially in my experience love her). It came across as suggesting companies shouldn't try to make these games appealing or fix mistakes of the past because women don't care.

Feels quite disrespectful to imply Dark Souls was made to replicate western RPGs while ignoring that Hidetaka Miyazaki has stated in the past that the main inspiration for Demon's Souls, from it's difficulty and tone was King's Field, an ARPG series dating back to 1994 coming from the same lineage as DQ and FF. It feels insulting to erase and ignore Japan gaming long history of ARPGs and attribute the creation of Soullikes to Miyazaki and his team copying at then current western Devs and trends and feels like trying to take credit away from them.
