What I like most about this, is that these gentlemen are somehow still conditioned to run even though no one is going to chase after them. Trumps

They are completely in their element stealing $10 worth of fabric sold at a 300% mark-up.

I think the idea is that when you're stealing from nordstrom you're stealing more than the $950 value for which you won't be pursued, which is why so many of them did it at once, to make it as confusing as possible about which of them might've gotten more than that

https://fashionjournal.com.au/life/asexual-queer-enough/ wrote:It’s when women often tokenise the queer experience while trying to escape the objectification that comes from being women in straight clubs, and it became a topic of discussion for the group I was with.

I gave a balanced counter, taking in both sides of the topic as it was a very complex discussion. To this comment, I was met with “Well you’re straight, so you shouldn’t even be here” to which I replied, “Actually, I’m asexual”. This person sized me up and said “Eh, same difference because you’re not really queer”.

At that moment, I felt my entire relevance in the queer community dissipated. I didn’t know how to respond as I’d only had my asexual (or ace) awakening a few months prior, and I’d not faced this kind of discrimination yet.

I have the privilege of being a straight-passing person which is admittedly a contentious double-edged sword. I couldn’t have imagined the first instance of prejudice I experienced would be dished out by someone who was in the queer community.

Since this event, however, I’ve had a few similar encounters. I’ve arrived at this point where nothing is more nerve-wracking to me than going out to queer clubs and spaces (except going to spaces with straight men). It just reinforces my belief that I feel like I never got the keys to the queer kingdom.

I was questioned at the gates, judged by other members of the LGBTQIA+ community and more often than not, would flee the castle before the clock strikes 12. Whenever I step into a queer space, I immediately feel like a fraud and that my occupying that space is in some way incorrect or invalid.

Why is it this way? Why do I feel like an imposter in a community I should feel myself in, given it boasts pride and acceptance? Is it because attraction is intrinsically linked to most forms of queerness? It is because sharing my experience with a lack of physical attraction in my life challenges the idea that being attracted to someone makes you queer?

Is it because sex is another crucial aspect of queerness and that queer, allosexual people have fought for the ability to celebrate? Does a lack of sex make me less relatable? Queer people have fought for their love, attraction and identity to be validated.
Quote:Pride, for example, is a concept I feel a great disconnect from. When Sydney held World Pride this past year and all of my friends were scurrying off to Oxford Street for celebrations and Kylie Minogue, it didn’t cross my mind once to go.

A major queer event occurred in Australia, yet I felt so disconnected from it due to how untethered I felt from other parts of the queer community. This is likely due to how World Pride is, for many, an event for sexual liberation. How can I be truly sexually liberated while being ace?

I wish my experiences with asexuality discrimination were seen as something more queer people could relate to. We are all fighting for the same understanding, acceptance and pride in our identity. As an asexual person, I often feel as if I’m fighting for a space at the popular kid’s lunch table, constantly trying to prove I belong.

But I will keep fighting for allosexuals to stop gatekeeping the queer community and allow asexual people to celebrate their identities and authentic queer selves. I’m aware that if one of my main issues is whether I’m queer enough, I’m very fortunate. Many queer people are consistently facing far worse. I just feel asexuality should be more widely discussed and represented, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Not like this!

When the only discrimination you face is queer people wondering if you're actually queer... is that really a problem? Why does she so desperately want to be part of that "club"? Living asexually is the easiest fucking thing there is, tons of people do it without even wanting to.

Miles Morales' Broken Spider-Sense is a Powerful Message About Mental Heath

Quote:Miles Morales’ most recent battle has been made all the more deadly thanks to the young Spider-Man’s classic Spider-Sense being on the fritz. Not only does this make him more vulnerable in a fight, but its impact on Miles serves as a powerful metaphor for mental health struggles.

In Miles Morales: Spider-Man #9 by writer Cody Ziglar, artists Federico Vicentini and Federico Sabbatini, colorist Bryan Valenza and letterer Cory Petit, the Hobgoblin has broken into the Beyond Corporation’s abandoned warehouse. As he attempts to steal a device that erases memories, Miles and his girlfriend Tiana Toomes aka Starling fight to stop him. This is tough for Spider-Man, whose Spider-Sense has been misfiring since last issue. It has either been not alerting him to danger, or warning him that there is danger everywhere all the time. As a result, he nearly loses the battle and his life, and comes to the realization that he needs professional help dealing with all of his recent trauma.

In psychology, hypervigilance is a common symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder and other anxiety disorders. Someone experiencing hypervigilance will often feel a sense of increasing danger, causing them to be on high alert and fearful of potential threats. While this is a difficult condition to deal with for regular people, for someone with a Spider-Sense that is designed to warn them of danger, the symptoms would be intensified to a frightening degree. These constant feelings of distress have clearly gotten to Miles, as he falls to his knees and begins sobbing once Hobgoblin flees the scene. He asks Starling, “What’s wrong with me? What’s going on? My Spider-Sense not working almost got us both killed!” Realizing that this is not a problem he can punch or web his way out of, Miles decides that he needs to get some real help.

The idea of Miles seeking therapy was first brought up last issue when he confessed to Tiana that his Spider-Sense has been alerting him to danger, even when there’s nothing there. He agrees to think on it, and in this most recent issue he admits that he needs to talk to somebody. Miles has certainly been through a lot recently, from being tortured and experimented on by the Assessor to fighting his own clones to stopping a symbiote attack on New York from Carnage host Cletus Kasady. These are incredibly stressful and traumatic events to deal with for anyone, especially a high school student. Naturally, Miles would be experiencing some pretty heavy PTSD, so it’s good that he’s decided to finally seek treatment.

For all the constant battles, deaths, resurrections and crises that superheroes in the Marvel Universe have to contend with, few of them ever acknowledge the toll it takes on their mental health. If left unmanaged, Miles’ PTSD could get even worse, putting himself and the people around him in danger. It’s encouraging that he’s not only recognizing that he can benefit from therapy, but that he’s approaching the subject with an open mind. Miles is not treating the need for therapy as a weakness or something to be ashamed of, and his girlfriend Tiana is supportive and validates his feelings without judgment. Since his introduction in 2011, Miles Morales has been an inspiration to a whole generation of comic readers, and the young Spider-Man continues to set an example for his fans by recognizing the importance of self-care and mental health.

This seems like bad marketing

Everything is aimed at adults in a perpetual state of adolescence, obsessed with children's stories being retold for them (not children).

There are ways to do fairy tales smartly in a modern setting. Ironically, Disney was doing that masterfully just a decade ago with Tangled and Frozen. Going back further you have Beauty & The Beast and other films. All of which included proactive, smart heroines and kind, dumb men as love interests. And nobody called that problematic because the world is full of couples that look exactly like that lol.

It wouldn't be hard to imagine all types of ways to do Snow White like that without showing disdain for the story or deciding to cast tall men (and women) and dwarves.

in fact exactly the way you mentioned...tangled and frozen are not the original stories' names, they aren't pretending to be the exact same story

if they wanted to, they could've called snow white a number of other things...but then thinking on that, I don't even know why you'd want to retell snow white, because it's kind of a very shitty story

"envious queen wants girl dead" as a baseline could lead to awesome stories but there's basically nothing worthwhile going on with the 7 weirdos she takes refuge with

I do feel kind of bad for her but she also managed this particular outrage all by herself. Usually these soulless live action remakes are at least coated in a pretense that the original movies were amazing etc. and that's why it's time to remake them. But if you go on about how the original actually sucks you're not going to win over anyone.
As mentioned above, if the story really needs so much updating (and imo the real problem I imagine is that a faithful snow white remake would simply be too boring for modern audiences. I'm sure they'll add a huge CG battle in the third act or something) then completely remake the fairy tale from the ground up like Tangled and Frozen

I think that's unfair, just because she's the public face of stupid decisions somebody else made and she had to live with.

Like... what's she gonna say?
"The original story and cartoon were amazing, which is why 'we' decided to throw all that shit out because marketing dickheads who can't get the fuck off twitter decided they didn't want to see a white woman and some dwarfs as main characters, even though that is literally the fucking title of the story"

She's the puppet they wheel out to say whatever random shit pops into her head to try and build hype, the puppetmasters who fucked all this up are just gonna take a backseat in the shadows.
She probably has all kinds of contractual obligations to push everything about this film as amazing, even if she thinks its a huge turd (and I don't even know if she is wise enough to have figured out exactly why people fucking hate this so much)

Nah I don't think so. Disney hasn't shown much or announced anything about the movie yet so they must've been caught by surprise about all these comments given by Zegler and Gadot. (remember they didn't even want to confirm the leaked set photos) At first though, probably happy with the yasss queen energy as that is probably their target audience but now worried that their film may crash and burn because she doubled down and is now having a self-inflicted breakdown.
Reply
Really, if the anti woke crowd were smarter, they’d tie the Snow White discourse to Barbie. They share the same writer. Maybe thematically, too. But they’re doubling down on going after the actress.

I’ll admit that I don’t quite know what to think about her. On one hand, she’s a young actress getting pushed like crazy in this industry. Her first role was leading Spielberg’s West Side Story. Then a DC superhero movie. Then a Hunger Games prequel, Snow White, the next Paddington. It’s like the guy who showed up out of nowhere and starred in Avatar, Terminator, Clash of the Titans. Like, I feel bad for anybody getting piled on, but it’s difficult to see somebody who’s been privileged with these opportunities as the victim
