Also for the people who pay with cash, it's absolutely discriminatory to not take their money.

Absolutely deplorable in its inception.

Prepaid debit cards have activation fees, purchase caps, experience widespread fraud and tampering issues, and many payment services have issues processing them, often leaving them with holds that make them unusable for a day or longer. That’s not even close to a valid solution.

So when I started a new job a while back, I boneheadedly wrote my account number incorrectly while filling out the direct deposit form. And because my company doesn’t issue physical checks, this error meant that my first two paychecks were paid to me in the form of a “company card”…essentially, a preloaded Visa card.

The card came with usage fees and withdrawal fees. But that wasn’t the worst part. The first time I went to withdraw cash, from my bank’s ATM, it triggered the card’s fraud detection and my account was locked. This was on a Friday. Because this card was issued by some tiny shit company that didn’t keep weekend business hours, this meant I didn’t have access to my money until the following Tuesday.

And even worse? This happened AGAIN my next paycheck.

Fuck prepaid cards.

This is on you too, because apparently you didn't take action between receiving this paycheck and the next.
You could've just picked up the phone to give them the right account number. Would've saved them the hassle of sending you cards.
